How to eradicate reeds without pesticides? Practical methods shared

As is well known, reeds are perennial grasses of the Poaceae family, generally found in fields near irrigation canals, wetlands and dry farmland. They can cause certain harm to crops, so are there methods to eradicate reeds without pesticides?

1. Methods to eradicate reeds without pesticides

Fill a mineral water or beverage bottle about half full with glyphosate, insert some cotton wool into the bottle mouth and wrap the outside with cotton cloth, use scissors to cut the reeds off from the stem base; after cutting, the reed stems protrude about 1 cm above the ground, then apply the glyphosate bottle head to the cut reed heads to remove the reeds. You can also manually dig out the reed roots in concentrated contiguous areas.

Reeds have strong rhizomes, and they grow vigorously, able to occupy aboveground and underground space within 2 to 3 years. Even if the aboveground leaves and stems are eliminated, the underground stems and roots will still grow as long as soil conditions are suitable. In addition, reeds also have a waterproof and seepage-proof waxy epidermis and drug resistance, so some chemicals are ineffective.

After the corn seedlings emerge, spray mesotrione + nicosulfuron + atrazine for control (note: do not use on waxy corn).

You can use 10% glyphosate diluted 1:1 with water to make a stock solution; after cutting the reeds, inject 5 mL into each hollow internode stalk. The second day after injection, the leaves turn yellow; after about two weeks, all aboveground stems wither. If scattered reeds appear the following year, use the above method again.
