The fall armyworm is an invasive pest from abroad that causes great damage to corn and other grain crops, and if not controlled in time it can lead to total crop failure. So what insecticide should be used for fall armyworm in corn?

1. What insecticide should be used for fall armyworm in corn?

For chemical control of fall armyworm, choose low-toxicity, high-efficiency pesticides with low residue levels, short residue duration, and no pollution as the first choice. The chemical control method is: when the fall armyworm eggs in the corn field have just hatched into the ant-like larval stage, spray the following pesticides:

1. Use a 1200-1600 times dilution of 10% cypermethrin emulsifiable concentrate and spray evenly on the corn leaf surface.

2. Use a 1200-1600 times dilution of 5% beta-cypermethrin emulsifiable concentrate and spray evenly on the stems and leaves of the corn plants.

3. Use a 1600-2000 times dilution of 25% diflubenzuron No. 3 suspension and spray on the leaf surface.

4. Use a 1500-2000 times dilution of 25% buprofezin wettable powder and spray on the corn leaf surface.

5. Use a 4000 times dilution of 10% imidacloprid wettable powder and spray on the leaf surface.

6. Use a 1000-2000 times dilution of 90% crystallized trichlorfon and spray evenly on the corn leaf surface. 7. Use a 3000-4000 times dilution of 2.5% deltamethrin emulsifiable concentrate and spray on the leaf surface.

2. Biological control

Use trap-type black light lamps to trap and kill adult fall armyworms in corn fields. There are currently many varieties of black light lamps on the market, and no matter which product is used, they are all very effective at killing adult fall armyworms. A single adult fall armyworm can lay several thousand to even tens of thousands of eggs, reproduces quickly, causing high larval density, large pest populations, and great damage. Therefore, using the phototaxis of the fall armyworm to trap and kill adults with night light lamps is the best and most ideal control method for fall armyworm, with high control efficiency, good results, no environmental pollution, no environmental damage, green and environmentally friendly, economical and affordable, convenient and quick, saving time and effort.

There are currently only two control methods for the fall armyworm: using black light lamps to trap and kill adults, and using low-toxicity, high-efficiency, pollution-free pesticides to kill larvae.
