What are the best special-effect pesticides for rice leaf roller and rice stem borer?
In the process of rice cultivation, some pests and diseases are often unavoidable, and the leaf roller and the stem borer are two of the more damaging pests. What are the special-effect pesticides for rice leaf roller and rice stem borer?
I. Special-effect pesticides for rice leaf roller and rice stem borer
For the control of rice leaf roller and rice stem borer, pesticides such as Bacillus thuringiensis, chlorantraniliprole, hexaflumuron, tetrachlorantraniliprole, flubendiamide, and beta-cypermethrin-emamectin benzoate can be used. To reduce pest resistance, attention should be paid to alternating and rotating the pesticides.
Yubei District, based on the main local rice pests and diseases, put forward the following control recommendations:
1. Per mu, use 8 g of Fogo or 40 mL of Liangtai + 50 g of buprofezin + 12 mL of 50% difenoconazole-propiconazole emulsifiable concentrate, mainly to control rice planthopper, rice stem borer, rice leaf roller, and sheath blight, while also controlling other pests and diseases.
2. Per mu, use 100 mL of 3% emamectin benzoate-lufenuron or 30-40 mL of 5% abamectin + 40 g of 25% thiazine-isoprocarb wettable powder, mainly to control rice leaf roller and rice planthopper.
3. Per mu, use 60-70 g of 30% imidacloprid-buprofezin + 12 mL of 30% difenoconazole-propiconazole + 8 g of 25% emamectin benzoate-indoxacarb water-dispersible granules, mainly to control rice planthopper, rice leaf roller, and rice sheath blight, while also controlling other pests and diseases.
4. Per mu, use 10 mL of 20% chlorantraniliprole + 50 g of 25% buprofezin + 34 g of 10% difenoconazole-tebuconazole, mainly to control rice planthopper, stem borer, rice leaf roller, rice blast, rice sheath blight, and others.
5. Per mu, use 3 g of 70% imidacloprid water-dispersible granules + 60-90 mL of 3% abamectin + 16 g of 40% difenoconazole-azoxystrobin suspension concentrate, to control rice planthopper, rice leaf roller, rice sheath blight, and rice blast.
II. Control of other rice pests and diseases
1. Rice blast
Leaf blast: when acute lesion-type spots appear in the field and the rate of diseased leaves reaches 5%, the field must be treated with pesticide to control the center of the outbreak.
Neck blast: at the rice booting stage, any field where leaf blast occurred severely earlier or where leaf blast was mild earlier but the top three leaves became diseased later should be listed as a target field for one treatment, and pesticide application should begin 3 days before booting; for susceptible varieties, fields with a later growth period, disease on the top three leaves (flag leaf or leaf collar disease incidence reaching more than 1%), or severe leaf blast in surrounding fields should each receive one control treatment at the booting stage and at the full heading stage. The main pesticides are: tricyclazole, isoprothiolane (Fuji 1), and others.
2. Sheath blight (rice false smut)
Preventive treatment should be carried out for dry-raised seedlings with good growth and high density. For diseased rice fields during the field period, the suitable control period should be when the rate of diseased clumps reaches 10-15% from the late tillering stage to the stem elongation and jointing stage, and when the rate of diseased clumps reaches 15-20% at the booting stage; the pesticide solution should be sprayed on the middle and lower parts of the rice plants.
For the control of rice false smut, pesticide application should be carried out from the late tillering stage to the stem elongation and jointing stage, before booting, and about 5 days before full heading.
The main pesticides are: validamycin, kasugamycin, thifluzamide, tebuconazole, and others.
When applying validamycin, it is best to do so on a sunny day after rain; if heavy rain falls within two hours after application, the pesticide should be applied again.
3. Rice planthopper
At the tillering stage, when rice planthoppers exceed 10 per clump of rice plants, and at the booting stage, when rice planthoppers exceed 5 per clump of rice plants, pesticide spraying should immediately be carried out for control. The main pesticides are: dichlorvos, chlorpyrifos, buprofezin, and leafhopper powder, among others. Recommendation: dichlorvos + buprofezin, or chlorpyrifos + buprofezin, or leafhopper powder + buprofezin, or bisultap + buprofezin, or dichlorvos + leafhopper powder applied in mixture.
There are now many pesticides, and the mixing methods are also diverse; the above content is only for reference.
