Summer temperatures are relatively high, and vegetables and fruits grow vigorously, often leading to an imbalance between nutrition and growth. Root drenching can effectively help vegetables grow, so can thiophanate-methyl be used for root drenching?

1. Can thiophanate-methyl be used for root drenching?

Thiophanate-methyl can be used for root drenching, but whether it is suitable depends on the growth condition of the crop. Do not drench roots blindly, as this can affect the normal growth of the crop.

2. How to carry out root drenching scientifically?

1. Timing of root drenching: Generally, after vegetables pass the seedling establishment and recovery stage, a uniform root drenching should be carried out. Commonly used pesticides are thiophanate-methyl, chlorothalonil, carbendazim, Migengkang, metalaxyl, thiophanate-methyl, or dexon. In theory, the pesticide concentration should not exceed 1500 times dilution. In practice, dilute once more based on the spray concentration on the pesticide bag. For more than 3000 seedlings, generally 6-8 watering cans of water are enough.

2. Selection of pesticide efficacy for root drenching: If choosing a pesticide for disease prevention, the above broad-spectrum fungicides are sufficient, but after disease onset, the pesticide used for drenching should target that specific disease. For example, for pepper yellow wilt, use carbendazim and hymexazol or Genkang or thiophanate-methyl for root drenching.

3. Precautions for root drenching: Do not water before pesticide root drenching, and do not water immediately after root drenching either. Water at least 3 days after drenching. Only then will the sterilization and disease prevention effect be good. If there is no serious disease, drenching 1-2 times at the seedling stage is enough. After disease onset, the number of drenching treatments should also not exceed five times. If the disease has not been eliminated after five drenching treatments, there is no point in drenching again.

Thiophanate-methyl can be used for root drenching, and it can also be used for the prevention and control of other diseases. Its range of use is relatively wide. Before use, it is best to read the instructions.
