During the growth process, rice will encounter many diseases and pests, which threaten the healthy growth of the plants. What are rice root pests? How should they be controlled?

I. Rice root pests

The main rice root pests include mole crickets, white grubs, red threadworms, root-knot nematodes, root maggots, cutworms, rice water weevils, rice root leaf beetles, and others.

II. Control of rice root pests

1. Mole crickets

On the rice seedling bed, first dilute 10-20 ml of 5% fipronil suspension concentrate with a little water to make a stock solution, then mix the fipronil with an appropriate amount of fine soil for every 100 sq m of seedling bed; after the seedling bed is leveled, spread it evenly on the bed surface, and then sow; alternatively, after the seedling bed is leveled, use fipronil mixed with 6 kg of water per 100 sq m of seedling bed, spray it on the surface of the bed soil, and then sow.

2. Red threadworms

(1) After draining the water from the field, spray pesticide once, and after 5-7 days plow the field and spray pesticide once more.

(2) Use 60 ml of 2.5% lambda-cyhalothrin aqueous emulsion per mu, diluted with 50 kg of water, and spray evenly; use 70 ml of 26% phoxim? high-cyfluthrin emulsifiable concentrate per mu, diluted with 50 kg of water, and spray evenly; for field disinfection treatment, it is recommended to spread quicklime on affected plots, which can change the field pH.

3. Root maggots

(1) The use of raw manure as fertilizer is prohibited.

(2) In plots where root maggots have already occurred, irrigate frequently; when necessary, flood irrigation may be used to prevent seedcorn maggots from laying eggs, inhibit root maggot activity, and drown some larvae.

(3) During the peak egg-laying period of adults and the peak hatching period of larvae, spray pesticide in time to kill them; to kill adults, use 2.5% deltamethrin at 3000 times or 90% trichlorfon crystals at 1000 times to spray and kill seedcorn maggot adults 2-3 times, once every 7 days.

(4) To kill larvae in fields where root maggots have already occurred, use 40% phoxim emulsifiable concentrate at 1000 times or 40% chlorpyrifos at 1000 times to drench the soil 2-3 times, once every 7 days.

(5) Before planting rice, mix 2.5-3.5 kg of phoxim granules with chemical fertilizer and apply it into the soil, which can kill the eggs and larvae of seedcorn maggots.

4. Rice root leaf beetles

(1) In winter, drain the field water so that the soil surface dries and cracks, which can kill overwintering larvae.

(2) Thoroughly remove weeds such as pondweed from the field to eliminate intermediate hosts. per mu, 75 g of 25% diuron can be used, mixed with 40 jin of fine soil and broadcast on a sunny day, with the field water kept at about 3 cm; after 7-8 days, the pondweed leaves begin to rot and die, and the efficacy can last half a month.

(3) Before transplanting rice, in combination with the final harrowing of the field, use 250 g of 50% phoxim emulsifiable concentrate per mu, mixed with 20-25 kg of moist fine soil, and apply it into the field, or broadcast 20 kg of tea seed cake (tea bran) powder into the field to kill larvae.

(4) During the peak emergence period of adults, use 150-200 ml of 30% acephate emulsifiable concentrate per mu, or 100-200 g of 90% trichlorfon, diluted with 50-60 kg of water, and spray.

The above is a brief list of rice root pests and a basic introduction to control methods, for reference only.
