How to grow snow lotus? Learn the correct cultivation methods
Because its top is shaped like a lotus, it is called snow lotus, or snow lotus for short; in other places it is also called large-bracted snow lotus, lotus, utpala flower, and so on. So how do you grow it?
How to grow snow lotus?
1. Environment
Snow lotus adapts to various complex climate environments and usually grows below the high-mountain snow line. It can brave frost and snow and grow tenaciously in severe cold of minus several tens of degrees and in oxygen-poor environments with thin air.
2. Watering
During the growth period of snow lotus, there must be enough water for it to grow and develop normally; necessary watering keeps the soil moist. Generally, during the seedling stage, water appropriately more, but do not cause waterlogging. In the hot days of midsummer, watering in the early morning or evening is suitable, and in autumn water less. When cultivating snow lotus in a plastic greenhouse in winter, it is best to water with snow water or ice water, which is more favorable for its growth.
3. Fertilizing
In order to supplement the insufficient nutrients in the soil and promote the growth of snow lotus, during the peak growth period in summer, apply fertilizer once every 15 days according to the situation.
4. Weeding
Weeds grow together with snow lotus and compete for nutrients, water, and sunlight, and also affect ventilation, leading to an increase in pests and diseases. Therefore, weeds should be pulled out in time; chemical agents such as Miecaoling can also be applied to keep snow lotus growing healthily.
Because the growing conditions for snow lotus are harsh, at present only part of the Tianshan Mountains in our country has some artificial planting, and cultivation in other regions is still relatively difficult.
