Rootless Chinese Arborvitae Cultivation Techniques

Rootless Chinese arborvitae cultivation generally refers to the propagation method of cuttings, and below we will introduce it in detail.

1. Time

Chinese arborvitae sprouts and grows throughout all four seasons of the year, so cuttings can be taken in all four seasons, but they are mainly divided into spring cuttings and winter cuttings. Among these, early spring (around the Spring Festival) is the best time for cuttings, that is, from early February to early March; the cuttings begin to heal from mid-April to early May, and most take root from late May to late June. The time for winter cuttings is from mid-December to mid-January.

2. Land preparation

Choose a flat, dry, wind-sheltered and sunny place, disinfect it with chemicals, and then let it dry for 1-2 days. During this period, the nutrition and humidity of the seedbed must be ensured.

3. Cuttings

Soak the branches to be used for cuttings in warm water at about 30 degrees for 2-3 hours, then treat them with rooting powder, etc. After taking them out, insert the cuttings at a row spacing of 5*10 cm and a depth of about 5 cm. After cutting, water them thoroughly, cover the bed with plastic film, and maintain humidity and temperature. After that, water and fertilize regularly.

Once the Chinese arborvitae has taken root and survived, it can be potted or densely planted for afforestation.
