A Complete Guide to Breeding Pet Hwamei Birds
Raising and breeding hwamei birds is very difficult, and the level of difficulty in keeping them is quite high. Many beginners do not really know how to breed and raise hwamei birds. So what are the methods for breeding pet hwamei birds?
1. Environment
Breeding hwamei birds is very different from keeping hwamei birds. The first issue is the environment. When we normally keep hwamei birds, it is simply to enjoy their song or for fighting, and we only need a place that can hold them. But breeding is different. To get them to build nests and reproduce, we should try our best to recreate their original mountain forest environment, and each clutch must have a tree suitable for nesting.
2. Netting
When it comes to artificial breeding, of course netting is needed. But why should we use metal netting with 1 cm openings to enclose the area? Besides preventing the hwamei birds from escaping, we also need to guard against natural enemies of birds such as rats, weasels and cats. Cats especially can easily climb trees and enter nests to steal eggs, so for the safety of the hwamei birds we have no choice but to make the netting denser.
3. Keep Quiet
Some people ask whether there is any secret to breeding hwamei birds. In fact, it comes down to one sentence: do not disturb them. Actually, it is not only hwamei birds; even parrots or mynas are very sensitive to outside sounds when breeding. So during their breeding period, do not easily approach them even at ordinary times!
4. Food
Calcium needs to be supplemented, otherwise they will eat their own eggs. Food and water must be changed on time, otherwise contaminated food and water will cause the birds to get sick. When we wait until the mother hwamei bird has raised the chicks to a certain size, we can begin the journey of hand-feeding.
Keeping hwamei birds is rather troublesome, so when raising them you must be meticulous and patient. Only in this way can you get hwamei birds to breed.
