Lotus generally grows in places with plenty of water and plenty of sunlight, and some families in the south grow it. So how do you grow lotus at home?

1. Soil

It is best to choose soil close to the pond environment, preferably lake or pond mud or humus leaf soil, and the soil should be fertile and loose. If it is too sticky and heavy, it is not conducive to the extension and swelling of the lotus rhizome.

2. Light

Lotus grown at home is best placed outdoors or on a balcony. Lotus likes plenty of light and needs at least 8 hours of sunlight per day. If it does not get sunlight for a long time, it is not easy for it to bloom. During periods in summer when the sunlight is too strong, it can be cared for indoors.

3. Temperature

Lotus will only bloom at a suitable temperature, generally around 25-30 degrees, when lotus grows vigorously. But the lotus rhizome shoots cannot take such a high temperature and should be kept at around 14 degrees.

4. Fertilizing

Lotus needs different fertilizers at different growth stages, and fertilizing is needed throughout the whole process. When planting in a pot, use chicken manure as a base fertilizer at the bottom; one month after planting, you can apply bean cake fertilizer or human urine and feces, but it must be fully decomposed and diluted. When the leaves are shooting up, continue to use decomposed bean cake fertilizer or human urine and feces, and fertilizing twice is enough. During the flowering period, apply phosphate fertilizer once a week to ensure bright flower color.

5. Watering

Lotus likes water, so the roots must never be short of water. During the high-temperature period in summer, lotus grows relatively fast, so make sure to water 1-2 times a day. If the water quality is relatively poor, or if there is an odor or it is cloudy, replace it in time.

That is all for some small tips on growing lotus at home. I hope it can help everyone grow beautiful lotus at home.
