Malt is an annual herbaceous plant with a flowering and fruiting period from July to September. It is widely cultivated throughout the world, and the cultivation yield in the northern regions of China is extremely high. So how do you plant it?

How is malt planted?

1. Land preparation

Break up the soil clods finely, level the field, then spread 4,000 jin of farmyard manure, then plow the land once more and mix the fertilizer evenly, then dig a small ditch every 1 m to about 1.5 m, and make preparations for drainage and irrigation.

2. Sprouting

First soak the malt seeds in clean water overnight to ensure the seeds fully absorb water, then take them out for sprouting.

3. Sowing

In North China, sowing is generally done around November in winter, while in Northeast China it is done in March or April in spring. Spread the seeds evenly in the ditches, then cover them with soil.

4. Field management

When a fine layer of tender green has grown throughout the malt field, we can carry out the first fertilization and watering. At this time, watering can be done by irrigation, and fertilization mainly uses urea to promote seedling growth. The fertilizer can be spread directly or dissolved in water for irrigation. The second fertilization is carried out when the malt seedlings tiller.

In addition, during the planting period, pest and disease control work must also be done well, and the corresponding agents should be sprayed in advance.
