The flowers of love grass are light purple and very beautiful, and it also has a faint fragrance. It is easy to grow and appeals to both refined and popular tastes, making it widely popular in various scenic areas. So how do you grow love grass?

1. Soil

The soil needs to be loose, breathable, and have high water-holding capacity, and it must be thoroughly sterilized. It is suitable for slightly alkaline or neutral sandy soil. You can use a mix of 1/3 perlite, 1/3 vermiculite, and 1/3 peat moss.

2. Container

For growing love grass at home, you can use a small flower pot, or you can substitute other containers. For example, a yogurt cup, with a few small holes pierced in the bottom with an awl. A disposable plastic cup also works, but because it is transparent, it is best to cover the outside with black paper or put it inside a paper cup. If the plant's roots are exposed to sunlight, it will affect growth, and the soil is prone to growing green moss.

3. Watering

Love grass does not like water to remain around its roots for long, so after watering thoroughly, you should wait until the soil is dry before watering again. Water in the morning, avoid direct sunlight, and do not splash water on the leaves or flowers, otherwise they are prone to rotting and pests and diseases.

4. Light

Love grass needs plenty of sunlight and a moderately humid environment. In summer, at least 50% of the sunlight should be blocked, and ventilation should be increased to lower the ambient temperature. In winter, love grass can grow well on flat ground and should be cultivated in full sun.

5. Fertilizing

For fertilizing love grass, bone meal can be placed in the potting soil as a base fertilizer, used once every three months. For seedlings, Hyponex No. 2 can be applied, and after the plants mature, apply a fertilizer higher in phosphorus, such as Hyponex No. 3.

The above are the planting methods for love grass. I hope they are helpful to everyone.
