Dragon Fruit Seed Propagation Methods and Key Points of Sowing and Seedling Techniques
The seeds in the flesh of the dragon fruit are actually its seeds, and dragon fruit seeds can be used for propagation. Let's take a look below at the dragon fruit seed propagation method.
1. Planting treatment
Select a fully ripe dragon fruit, take out the flesh, and rub it with your hands to separate the seeds from the flesh as much as possible. Then put the finely crushed flesh into stockings, place them in water to soak for one day, and then rub again so that the flesh and seeds are completely separated, leaving only the seeds. Place the seeds in a dry environment to air-dry, or use a fan to blow them dry gently for later use.
2. Prepare the potting soil
Prepare an opaque pot, lay a small amount of crushed stones at the bottom, and sprinkle some soil over the stones to cover them. Spray an appropriate amount of water to make the surface layer of the soil slightly moist.
3. Sowing
Scatter the dried seeds directly on the surface layer of the soil by broadcast sowing, and spray water in time so that the seeds and soil are completely moistened. Be careful never to pour water directly.
4. Watering
After sowing, spray water in time and cover with plastic wrap. In about one week, leaves will grow and the plants will survive. During this period, uncover the plastic wrap once a day to water, and cover it again promptly after watering.
In fact, dragon fruit is rarely propagated by seeds. The temperature for seed cultivation should be maintained at around 25 degrees, and it also has relatively high requirements for the growing medium. Generally, cuttings or grafting are used, and these two methods are used more often.
