Herbaceous flowers are a commonly used plant for beautifying the environment and are called “living floral art”. There are many varieties of herbaceous flowers with many colors, which to a large extent can meet the requirements for color variation in plant landscaping. So how are herbaceous flower seeds planted?

1. Seed selection

Select plump, fresh seeds from superior mother plants. Before sowing, the seeds need to be soaked for 1~2 days, which helps the seeds germinate.

2. Soil

The growing medium used for sowing needs good water permeability, and the growing medium needs to be sterilized before use. For the drainage hole in the bottom of the pot, cover it crosswise with two arched broken tiles, then fill in some crushed stone and gravel 2~3 cm thick, add growing medium 5 cm thick, and spread washed river sand 1 cm on the top layer as the sowing layer.

3. Watering

After sowing, do not water directly. It is recommended to water with professional tools, so that the seeds are not washed away by water or piled together and affect the germination rate.

4. Sunlight

Herbaceous flowers like sunlight, but they are not tolerant of high temperatures and strong sun, so the flower pot should be placed in a place with direct sunlight, and the temperature should be kept at 15~25°C, which can promote seed germination. It should be noted that after the seeds germinate, they should not be exposed to light, and the seedlings even less able to receive strong light, so at this time a piece of glass can be placed over the sowing pot, and a piece of paper placed on the glass to block light, which can maintain the temperature and humidity inside the sowing pot.

Herbaceous flowers have a low, short plant type and have relatively small requirements for soil growing conditions, making them the best material for rapid plant landscaping. Herbaceous flower landscaping can be divided by application site into: urban roads, parks, squares, residential communities, golf courses, and other urban landscaping.
