Vegetables are an essential food in life, consumed by almost every household at every meal, but because China has many vegetable varieties, you should choose suitable varieties to plant according to local conditions when planting. So what are the common vegetable planting methods?

1. Planting methods for Chinese cabbage

1. Sowing

(1) Sowing time: Chinese cabbage is generally sown from late March to early April, from mid-May to early July, or 3-5 days around the Start of Autumn. It generally grows best under conditions of 18-20°C and sufficient sunlight.

(2) Sowing method: direct sowing or seedling transplanting.

(2.1) Direct sowing: mainly drilling, with dibbling as a supplement. That is, on leveled soil, evenly scatter the seeds on the soil, then cover with a layer of leaf mold and water lightly. Seedlings emerge in 3-4 days. When the seedlings grow to 2-3 leaves and 5-6 leaves, thin them, and finally leave 1 strong seedling per hole.

(2.2) Transplanting: after seedlings grow and have 2-3 true leaves, transplant them with soil and roots into the field at an appropriate spacing.

2. Fertilizing

Before entering the rosette stage, apply 15% decomposed human urine and manure once every 3-4 days; after entering the rosette stage, apply 30% decomposed human urine and manure once every 5-7 days; after heading begins, apply a heavy topdressing and increase potassium fertilizer; after the plants close their rows, generally no more topdressing is applied. To make topdressing easier, loosen the soil and weed in the early stage, and earth up in the middle stage.

3. Watering

During the seedling stage, water lightly and frequently to keep the soil moist; during the rosette stage, irrigate intermittently, keeping it dry and wet alternately; during head formation, the water requirement is relatively high, and when the soil is dry, furrow irrigation may be used, but do not allow waterlogging.

2. Planting methods for celery

1. Planting time

Spring and autumn.

2. Soil selection and land preparation

Because celery seedlings emerge with some difficulty, when choosing land you should select sandy loam with higher terrain, convenient drainage and irrigation, loose soil and fertility, then deep plow and fertilize to make a seedling bed.

3. Sowing

(1) Sowing time: March-April, June-July, or early August-September.

(2) Seed treatment: 7-8 days before sowing, soak the seeds to promote germination; sow once the seeds sprout.

(3) Sowing method: celery mostly uses the wet sowing method, that is, first water the base, and after the water seeps in, mix the seeds with sand and broadcast them. After sowing, cover with soil thinly and evenly, and water lightly once in the morning and evening every 1-2 days until the seedlings are fully emerged.

4. Management

Thin and divide seedlings appropriately, weed, and cultivate. Strengthen fertilizer and water management, promptly control pests and diseases, and prevent drought, insufficient fertilizer, and seedling stunting.
