In European and American countries, it is a common flower used in bridal bouquets. It is also the national flower of Ethiopia. So how do you grow calla lily from seed? How do you grow calla lily from seed?

1. Best sowing time

Calla lily seeds are generally sown starting in early August. Generally speaking, calla lilies enter dormancy from June to July, at which time you can take the tubers around the mature plant to grow new potted plants. Division propagation must be done in autumn, otherwise it will be difficult for them to bloom that year; even if they do bloom, the flowering period will be late.

2. Choice of substrate

A suitable substrate also helps with survival. You can use perlite plus coarse sand, or leaf mold, peat soil, and so on. Whatever substrate you use, it must be disinfected before use. You can expose it to the hot sun for a few days, or use other disinfectants, etc. Its roots are rather weak, so if there are bacteria it may have a relatively large impact.

3. Choice of seeds

Its seed-setting rate is not very high, so we can artificially select a robust mother plant and then pollinate it. After that, collect the seeds.

4. Sowing

After collecting the seeds and preparing the substrate, you can sow. Choose relatively plump seeds and scatter them into the soil, as evenly as possible. Then cover with a layer of soil.

5. Planting environment temperature

The suitable temperature for calla lily seed germination is 18-24°C, so the environmental temperature for sowing calla lilies should be controlled at this number. At the same time, avoid strong light exposure, and the humidity should be somewhat higher.
