How to Plant Mango Seeds? A Detailed Guide to the Planting Method
Mango is a tropical fruit that many people love to eat. It is sweet and sour and rich in carotene, the precursor of vitamin A, which other fruits cannot match. When eating a mango, besides the flesh, we find a large pit inside; this is actually the mango seed. So how do you plant a mango seed?
How do you plant a mango seed?
1. Choose a fully ripe mango and take out its seed. Use a knife to make a cut along the small gap in the seed shell, then pry the shell open and take out the embryo from inside, and soak it in water for a period of time.
2. Prepare a flower pot and potting soil in advance, and bury the seed halfway in the soil. Be sure to place the end of the seed with the embryo facing down, as this will help the seed germinate.
3. Then place the flower pot in a warm, humid place with sunlight for care. After about 5 or 6 days, the seed will germinate and grow.
4. The soil used for planting mango should be fertile, well-drained and loose. Also, during its seedling stage, be careful not to water it too much, otherwise it will cause poor development of the seedling, and be sure to maintain good ventilation.
Care tips:
Mango is a deep-rooted fruit tree and is relatively drought-tolerant. Especially during the flower bud differentiation stage, it needs appropriately dry soil and weather. However, mango flowering, fruit growth, development and vegetative growth require sufficient soil moisture. Severe soil drought will inhibit vegetative growth and hinder the production and accumulation of organic nutrients.
Mango is a light-loving fruit tree. Sufficient sunlight is conducive to the sprouting of new shoots and leaf expansion of young mango trees. It can improve the photosynthesis of leaves and increase the accumulation of photosynthetic products, thereby helping to accelerate the growth of young trees and bring fruiting earlier.
