How to Grow White Radish: Detailed Planting Methods and Tips
White radish has been cultivated for a thousand years and is widely used in both diet and traditional Chinese medicine food therapy. How to grow white radish for high yields?
1. Soil Requirements
White radish has strong adaptability to soil and is generally suited to growing in soil that is deep, well-draining and aerated, and highly fertile. You can sow white radish seeds directly into ordinary garden soil, adding a little organic fertilizer and fine sand.
2. Sowing and Seedling Raising
Dig a small hole and scatter 3 to 5 white radish seeds in each hole, then cover with soil, spray an appropriate amount of water, and keep the temperature at 20 to 25°C. This is good for white radish growth and increases the seed germination rate.
3. Fertilizer and Water Management
After the white radish seeds are sown in the soil, the soil needs to be kept moist. One week later, once the seeds have taken root and sprouted, apply an organic fertilizer to supply the white radish seedlings with enough nutrients. This can increase the white radish yield.
4. Light Requirements
White radish likes to grow in sunlight. When sowing white radish in spring, autumn and winter, it needs plenty of sunlight. In summer, however, provide sun protection, and water promptly when the temperature is too high.
5. Pest and Disease Control
During the normal growing process, white radish is very prone to pests and diseases, which affect its normal growth. We need to deal with weeds every week, and also regularly spray streptomycin, cypermethrin solution, insecticides and other agents to prevent pest and disease damage.
Drinking radish water with a little white sugar added can be consumed as a beverage and has a very good effect on digestion and stomach care.
