Chengdu cherries generally ripen from April to June, and picking begins in mid-April. After the cherries ripen, cherry festivals are held in places such as Pujiang, Xichang and Dechang in Chengdu, and many people go to the major cherry orchards to pick them.

1. Chongzhou Cherry Gully
Chongzhou Cherry Gully is a fairly well-known cherry-picking area, about 8 km from downtown Chongzhou, and about a 2-hour drive from Chengdu.

2. Guangming Township, Pujiang
Guangming Township in Pujiang mainly has three cherry varieties: red-flower cherry, white-flower cherry and purple-flower cherry, among which the purple-flower cherry is the sweetest and tastiest. Guangming Township has a total of four cherry-picking spots: Jinhua Scenic Area, Hanqiao Scenic Area, Guanmao Scenic Area and Shiyan Scenic Area.

By car: Follow the Chengxinpu Expressway—Putang Road—turn left into Chaoyang Avenue—after 2 km, turn left at the scenic area entrance landscape and drive 1 km to arrive; Chengdu—Chengya Expressway Pujiang Toll Station—go straight along Chaoyang Avenue for 3 km—turn left (there is a Guanmao Mountain Scenic Area sign at the intersection) and drive 1 km to arrive.
By bus: Take a bus from Xinnanmen to Pujiang, then after arriving take a taxi (about 15 yuan) or take the bus to Danleng (about 4 yuan) and get off at Guangming Township.
3. Jianyang Cherry Gully
Address: Within Jiajia Town and Laojunjing Township, Jianyang City
Best picking dates: mid-April—early May

5. Qingquan Town, Qingbaijiang
