What are the precautions for hatching pheasant eggs
Perhaps not many people know much about pheasants. Pheasants are very different from ordinary chickens. Pheasants have higher nutritional value than ordinary chickens. From the name pheasant, we can know that it is a chicken that grows in the mountains. From this we can see that its growing environment is different from that of ordinary chickens.
What needs attention when hatching pheasant eggs
Selection means selecting eggs. Try to use breeding eggs stored for within two weeks, with normal egg shape, moderate size, uniform shell thickness, coordinated and consistent color, and bright luster. The shorter the storage time, the higher the hatching rate.
Disinfection means disinfecting. Before incubation, fumigation is generally used for disinfection, that is, use 15 grams of potassium permanganate and 30 milliliters of formalin per cubic meter of space, and fumigate for 20 minutes at a temperature of 25°C~30°C, which can kill viruses on the breeding eggs. Disinfection is generally carried out in a disinfection cabinet.
Temperature means temperature. Temperature is the primary condition for incubation. The incubation temperature should be applied according to the embryonic development situation: high in the early stage, level in the middle stage, slightly lower in the late stage, and slightly higher during the hatching period. The temperatures are respectively: before incubation, preheat the breeding eggs for 6 hours~8 hours, egg temperature 36°C~38°C, 1 day~7 days 38.8°C~39.2°C, 8 days~14 days 38.5°C~38.8°C, 15 days~20 days 38°C~38.5°C, 21 days~24 days (that is, hatching) 38.5°C~39°C. Humidity means humidity. Humidity also plays an important role in the entire incubation process. If humidity is insufficient, it will cause embryos to stick to the shell and make hatching difficult; if humidity is too high, it is easy to cause poor yolk absorption in chicks, weak constitution, and easy death. Suitable humidity should follow the principle of high at both ends and level in the middle, that is, relative humidity in the early stage is 60%~65%, in the middle stage 55%~60%, in the late stage 60%~68%, and during the hatching period 70%~75%.
Turning means turning eggs. In order to make the breeding eggs heated evenly, artificial or natural egg turning must be used. Starting from the second day of incubation, generally turn eggs once every 2 hours~4 hours. The egg-turning angle is 180 degrees. Stop turning eggs starting from the twenty-first day.
Cooling means cooling eggs. In the middle and late stages of incubation, when the egg temperature reaches 38.8°C, the eggs should be cooled. Generally, at 16 days of incubation, cool once a day; at 21 days~24 days of incubation, cool twice a day. The time for cooling eggs can be flexibly controlled according to the situation. When the egg temperature drops to 35°C, continue incubation.
Spraying means spraying water. Spraying water is one of the key measures to increase the hatching rate. Spraying water can make the eggshell loose and brittle. Pheasant eggshells have a thick membrane and hard shells. For this reason, during 21 days~24 days of incubation, spray water once a day, with water temperature around 35°C, and continue incubation after the water dries. Under the effect of repeated cooling and spraying, the eggshell changes from hard to loose and brittle, which is conducive to chicks breaking the shell and coming out.
Candling means candling eggs. The first candling is at 6 days~8 days of incubation, mainly to check the fertilization rate of breeding eggs. In normal eggs, the eye spot on the embryo can be found, and the inside of the egg is red with blood streaks. In infertile eggs, there is no change at all, the yolk is complete, and the egg white is transparent. Infertile eggs should be taken out in time. The number of candlings should be determined according to specific circumstances, mainly to check embryonic development and identify dead embryo eggs.
The farming cost of pheasants
Generally, one is about 12-15 yuan, chicks 3-5 yuan, medicine 2 yuan, feed about 7-8 yuan! The specific cost depends on your farming scale! Site and labor are calculated separately!
Wild pheasant: its appearance is as beautiful as a peacock. Its meat is tender and delicious, with a strong game flavor, and the prospects are promising.
Because it is a wild animal, it has especially strong vitality and disease resistance, a high survival rate, and relatively safe investment.
Profit analysis (for reference only). Calculated by raising 500 colorful pheasants, actual analysis of farming economic benefits within 120 days, the average weight of adult chickens is 1.3 kilograms, and the sales price of commercial wild pheasants is 20 yuan to 28 yuan per jin,
Calculated at the lowest sales price of 20, the total weight of 500 pheasants is 1300 jin, 1300×20=26000 yuan.
The purchase price of each chick is 5 yuan, and 500 chicks total 2500 yuan.
The feed cost of each wild pheasant is at most 14 yuan. Calculated at 14 yuan, the total feed cost is 7000 yuan.
Other costs per chicken are 3 yuan (epidemic prevention, labor, lighting and others). The total is 1500 yuan.
What farming methods are there for pheasants
1. Three-dimensional cage farming method. For large-scale farming aimed at commercial meat pheasants, using the three-dimensional cage farming method during the growing period can achieve better results. During this period, the stocking density of pheasants should decrease as the age of the chickens increases. Combine temperature removal and group transfer to reduce density, so that the stocking density reaches about 20 birds per square meter, and then reduce density once every about 2 weeks. Cage farming should also reduce light intensity at the same time to prevent pecking.
2. Net house farming method. The net house farming method can provide a larger activity space for reserve pheasants used for breeding, improving the reproductive performance of breeding pheasants. After the chicks are removed from warmth, when they are transferred to net house farming, in order to prevent pheasants from being startled and suddenly flying up and crashing around due to sudden environmental changes, causing death and injury, 3 of every 2 primary wing feathers of the pheasants should be cut. For net house farming, a sand area should be set up inside the net room or on the exercise ground for pheasants to freely feed and take sand baths.
3. Free-range method. According to the wild flocking habits of pheasants, make full use of resource conditions such as barren slopes, forest land, hills, and pastures to build net enclosures and raise pheasants in free range. To prevent pheasants from flying away when startled, their wings can be cut after hatching, that is, use a debeaker to cut off the last joint of the wings on both sides of the chicks. When the external environmental temperature is not lower than 17—18°C, the chicks can be released for raising after being removed from warmth. The release density is 1—3 birds per square meter. With this farming method, pheasants basically live in the natural environment, with fresh air, good sanitary conditions, and a large range of activity. They can eat natural wild grass, plants, and insects, and also have enough artificially supplied feed and drinking water, which is extremely beneficial to the rapid growth of pheasants during the growing period. At the same time, pheasants grown under such conditions have game characteristics and are very popular among consumers.
Is raising pheasants profitable
Wild pheasant meat is tender and delicious, with a strong game flavor, and has always been a high-grade dish, deeply favored by the market. At present, the domestic market gap for wild pheasants is large. The annual demand in coastal areas such as Guangdong, Fujian, and Shanghai alone reaches 50 million birds, while the actual supply is less than 6 million birds.
Taking the introduction of 50 groups (1 male 6 females/group) of wild pheasants as an example, each hen is calculated to produce 100 eggs per year (the actual egg production is much higher), and 300 hens produce 30,000 eggs per year. The qualified rate of breeding eggs is calculated at 95%, and the fertilization rate, hatching rate, and survival rate are all calculated at 85%. Then the annual output of pheasants is: 30000×95%×85%×85%×85%=14585 birds. After more than 3 months of raising, commercial chickens can reach 1.5 kilograms. At present, the selling price is 30-50 yuan/bird. Even if sold at the price of native chickens, it can still sell for 24 yuan. Annual income: 14585 birds×24 yuan/bird=350,000 yuan.
We all know that ordinary chickens lay eggs. The principle of pheasants laying eggs is similar to that of ordinary chickens, but for raising pheasants in batches, their hatching also requires certain attention, so as to increase their egg production rate.
