What procedures are required to open a deer farm?
In China, deer farming is still relatively rare, because the cost of raising deer is relatively high and the procedures are also rather troublesome, but the returns and profits from deer are relatively high. Not only is the price of venison relatively expensive, but deer antler is also a very good thing with great medicinal value, and many people buy it to eat.
What procedures are required to open a deer farm
You need to apply to the local county forestry bureau for a "Wildlife Domestication and Breeding Permit", and then the county forestry bureau will review it and submit it to the municipal forestry bureau for review. Once these two stages are passed, it is fine but many documents are required, such as a land contract certificate, a business license, and also a source of deer breeding stock, a source of feed land area and allocation, and relevant facilities to prevent deer from escaping.
Reasonable formula for deer feed
When feeding deer, mainly corn, soybean meal and soybeans, cottonseed meal, peanut cake, wheat bran, etc. are used. Among them, corn has good palatability, a digestibility rate of 85%, and contains carotene. However, corn has relatively low contents of protein, minerals, and vitamins, and lacks lysine and tryptophan. Therefore, when using corn, attention should be paid to supplementing high-quality protein, mineral, and vitamin feed.
Soybean meal and soybeans contain about 45.8% crude protein, 5%~6% crude fiber, and about 0.6% phosphorus. Because soybean meal has low crude fat content and poor palatability, it should be stored for a period of time, and fed only after the moisture has evaporated and it has undergone curing.
Cottonseed meal has relatively high nutritional value and a low price. However, because cottonseed meal contains gossypol, when feeding sika deer it is not advisable to feed cottonseed cake alone, but rather to feed it in combination with other feeds. In addition, cottonseed meal must undergo detoxification treatment. Detoxification method: dissolve 1.5% baking soda and 1.5% ferrous sulfate in water, then soak the cottonseed meal in it, with the water just enough to submerge the cottonseed meal, and feed after soaking for 2 hours to 3 hours.
Peanut cake contains 46.4% crude protein and 1.75% methionine, and is also relatively high in cystine, but attention must be paid to storage to avoid producing aflatoxin; wheat bran contains about 14% crude protein and 110 grams of digestible protein per kilogram; it contains about 4% crude fat, 9%~10% crude fiber, and 0.8%~1.1% phosphorus, but its calcium content is relatively low. Therefore, for young deer, female deer in late pregnancy, and male deer growing antler, the feeding amount should not be too much.
Precautions for raising deer
1. Give priority to green and roughage feed, with concentrate feed as a supplement, and base the compound feed mainly on local green, succulent feed and roughage.
2. Make full use of various local feed resources that are low in price, abundant in quantity, wide in source, and stable in supply.
3. Feed at fixed times and in fixed amounts: each feeding amount should be appropriate. If the feeding amount is insufficient, the deer will easily become hungry shortly afterward, and not only will they be unable to rest quietly, but it will also affect the deer's digestive function. If too much is fed each time, it will not only cause feed waste, but also affect the appetite at the next feeding. It is necessary to keep it uniform day by day, and not let it vary from too much to too little.
4. Because the digestive tract of ruminants can synthesize a kind of vitamin B12 containing the metal element cobalt. Therefore, there is no need to add vitamin B12 to deer feed.
The situation of deer farming
Although the deer farming industry has not yet completely emerged from the shadow that appeared in the late 1990s, the development trend is very encouraging, mainly shown in:
1. Every year, the provinces, cities, and counties in North China, South China, and Central China purchase large batches of breeding deer from Northeast China. According to statistics from the Jilin Provincial Forestry Department, the breeding deer formally shipped out of Jilin Province numbered no less than 50,000-60,000 in the two years 1998 and 1999.
2. Supply and marketing channels are being formed. Now there are deer product dealers active almost everywhere across the country. The deer products distributed in just the two places of Xifeng in Liaoning and Shuangyang in Jilin account for roughly 1/4-1/3 of the national total, and the purchase and sale of deer products is no longer difficult.
3. The deer farming workforce is constantly growing, and the spread of technology is constantly deepening. For several decades, deer farming research institutions, colleges and universities, and dozens of state-owned deer farms in Northeast China alone have trained large numbers of deer farming technical personnel through various forms, and they have become the backbone force of the deer farming industry. Over the past 30 years, a large number of deer farming books and academic papers have been published through various means, and the scientific research achievements awarded by governments at all levels have reached more than 100 items.
With the continuous development of China's breeding industry, various breeding industries are constantly rising, and judging from China's current national conditions, the state has certain support policies for the breeding industry. Although breeding involves risks, it is a project in which risk and profit coexist.
