What methods are there to increase production in pond fish farming?
In recent years, due to the influence of market prices, many fish farmers have made very little profit, and some have even suffered losses, seriously affecting the enthusiasm of farmers. Below is an introduction to high-yield pond fish farming techniques.
1. Thoroughly clean the pond and disinfect it, apply enough base fertilizer at one time
Before the fingerlings are put into the pond, the inlet and drainage channels should be cleared, and excess mud should be removed from the pond. When the water depth is 20 cm, use 100 kg of quicklime per mu of fish pond for disinfection with the water, killing pests, pathogens and microorganisms, then apply 500 kg of decomposed human and livestock manure as base fertilizer. Then store water to a depth of 2-2.5 m, and wait 1 week for the medicinal effect to disappear before releasing the fish.
2. Increase the stocking size and release “jin-and-ounce fingerlings”
Large-size fingerlings have a high survival rate, a large absolute increase in weight, and can ensure the commercial size of fish when caught from the pond. Therefore, the best stocking sizes are grass carp 200-400 g, silver carp and bighead carp 100-300 g, and common carp 50-150 g.
3. Reasonably combine and mix species, implement three-dimensional fish farming
In order to make full use of water space and natural bait, it is necessary to carry out three-dimensional farming in the upper, middle and lower water layers of “fertilizer-water fish” such as silver carp, bighead carp and tilapia, and “feeding fish” such as grass carp, common carp and bream. Stock 1200-1500 “jin-and-ounce fingerlings” per mu, of which grass carp account for 40%, silver carp and bighead carp account for 40%, and common carp, crucian carp, bream and tilapia account for 20%, with a total stocking amount of about 150 kg per mu.
4. Feed formulated mixed feed and adhere to intensive rearing and careful management
According to the physiological and living needs of the fish, use wheat bran, rice bran, soybean cake flour, distillers' grains, minerals, vitamins and fish medicines to make formulated (mixed) feed for feeding, improving the efficiency of rearing. Feed 1500 kg per mu each year. At the same time, plant ryegrass and Sudan grass, and collect fine azolla and duckweed to feed grass carp, feeding 2-3 times a day.
5. Apply topdressing skillfully at the right time to cultivate natural bait
When the temperature is low, it is advisable to fertilize the water intensively to cultivate plankton suitable for feeding by “fertilizer-water fish” and promote the rapid growth of silver carp and bighead carp. Apply topdressing once every 2-3 days, each time applying 100-150 kg of decomposed human and livestock manure per mu. In summer when the temperature rises, applying farmyard manure easily causes pond asphyxiation, so chemical fertilizer can be used instead, applied once every 5-7 days, each time applying 2.5-5 kg of chemical fertilizer per mu.
6. Stock fingerlings of the required size as a supplementary crop, and catch the large ones while leaving the small ones in stages
Scientifically design the stocking and supplementary stocking of fingerlings, as well as the number and quantity of intermittent catches, implement rotational catching and stocking, and catch the large ones while leaving the small ones 3 times each year, with 500-600 kg can be caught, achieving balanced marketing, and the remaining fish are all taken out of the pond after autumn. Starting at the end of July, stock 6-10 cm small fingerlings as a supplementary crop, preparing to cultivate large-size fingerlings for the second year.
7. Splash medicines in turn and prevent and treat fish diseases in time
During the high-temperature period, every half month use 10 kg of quicklime per mu, or 250-350 g of 90% crystalline trichlorfon mixed into a slurry and splashed, and at the same time hang bleaching powder or copper sulfate and ferrous sulfate medicine baskets on the floating bait platform for the fish to disinfect the feeding site. In the season when grass carp enteritis is prevalent, mix 0.5 kg of garlic with the feed for every 100 kg of grass carp and feed continuously for 3-6 days to prevent grass carp enteritis.
