What are the key points for raising raccoon dogs in autumn
1. Reduce feeding frequency. If the raccoon dog can already live independently and is in good health, while keeping the feeding amount unchanged, the feeding frequency can be changed from 3 times to 2 times, feeding in the morning and evening respectively. This can avoid the raccoon dog's loss of appetite under high temperatures, and can also stimulate the raccoon dog's enthusiasm for eating, ensuring its bodily needs and smooth growth.
2. Provide sufficient drinking water. Many farmers believe that homemade feed already contains a lot of water, so raccoon dogs fed homemade feed do not need additional water. In fact, the water in homemade feed is far from enough to withstand high-temperature consumption. Therefore, each raccoon dog should be provided with at least 500 ml of clean water separately every day. For raccoon dogs fed pelleted complete feed, the water supply needs to be even greater, and they must be able to drink water at any time, otherwise it will cause physical harm.
3. Control the feeding of supplementary materials. In early autumn, raising raccoon dogs only requires ensuring that physical indicators are basically normal. The cool late autumn and early winter are the best periods for raccoon dog growth. Therefore, at this time, avoid blindly adding supplementary materials such as other animal remains (chicken liver, chicken racks, cattle remains, etc.) for raccoon dogs, so as to avoid illness caused by the fragility of their bodily absorption function, and the quality of supplementary materials is harder to guarantee in hot weather.
4. Prevent and treat gastrointestinal diseases. In early autumn, raccoon dogs are prone to gastrointestinal diseases. Generally, those caused by physical factors are easier to cure. For example, if a raccoon dog has diarrhea or loss of appetite due to overfeeding, as long as food is reduced in time and therapeutic drugs and digestive aids are administered, it can recover in about 3 days. However, diarrhea or refusal to eat caused by viruses or moldy feed is more difficult to cure. If farmers discover such symptoms, they should isolate the sick raccoon dogs in time and treat them with antibiotics. In recent years, diseases caused by diarrhea have shown signs of spreading among the same species, and farmers should pay attention.
5. Strengthen management and prevent diseases. On the basis of daily feeding of vitamin drugs, add auxiliary drugs such as oxytetracycline to reduce the disease rate. At the same time, clean regularly, remove feces every day and carry out harmless treatment, then place lime powder under the dens. Spray disinfectant liquid around the dens once a week. After rain, clean feces and disinfect at any time.
6. Isolate sick raccoon dogs in time and cut off the source of infection. When raccoon dogs are found to be sick or show symptoms, immediately isolate the sick raccoon dogs and disinfect the original dens and the surrounding environment. They can only return to the group after confirming that the sick raccoon dogs are completely cured, and they must be specially marked and must not be kept as breeding raccoon dogs.
7. Scientifically dispose of the carcasses of dead raccoon dogs. The carcasses of dead raccoon dogs carry multiple pathogens and must never be discarded at will, and their flesh must not be fed to other animals after skinning. After scientifically disposing of the carcasses, thoroughly disinfect their dens.
