Post-90s girl raises cattle, achieving an output value of 5 million
“I studied animal husbandry, which is directly related to my field, and I also love farming, so I opened this cattle farm.” Meeting Su Yang, no one would guess that this young post-90s girl in front of them actually raises 220 cattle, with an output value of nearly 5 million yuan.
Along a newly opened road, the car accelerated and rushed toward the mountaintop. Halfway up the mountain, on a newly dug flat area, in two cattle sheds with four parallel rows, several sturdy bulls walked freely. On January 8, the author saw at the cattle farm in Fulian Village, Sitang Town, Youjiang District, that in the spacious cattle shed, when workers placed the prepared silage beside the shed, several beef cattle competed to eat. “Sugarcane is everywhere around here. After the people finish cutting sugarcane, the cane tops and cane leaves left behind are usually burned in one fire. It is a pity. Developing ecological circular cattle raising means there is a wide source of feed.” When talking about feeding beef cattle, Su Yang said. In addition to feeding cattle with sugarcane leaves, Su Yang also planted forage grass (Gui Mu No. 1) and used brewer's grains and other materials to ensure that the beef cattle had sufficient feed. “Local yellow cattle grow slowly, are small in size, and have a low meat yield, so I raised Brahman cattle and Qinchuan beef cattle.” According to Su Yang, Brahman cattle were introduced from Myanmar, and Qinchuan beef cattle are a high-quality cattle breed from the Shaanxi area. Both types of cattle are tall and large, have a good meat yield, and are easy to feed because they eat coarse feed (roughage). It is understood that in April 2014, Su Yang invested 2.5 million yuan to introduce 181 Qinchuan beef cattle and 39 Brahman cattle. After nearly a year of feeding, they have now all reached the standard for being sent to market. Calculated at the market price, each cow is 20,000 yuan, and the output value is nearly 5 million yuan.
