How to Increase the Egg Production Rate in Quail Farming
1. Physique and age of the quail: raise quails that are strong, disease-free, have a good appetite, and were born in the current year. The lifespan of a quail is generally 2 years. Female quails start laying eggs at 45 days of age, and the egg production rate declines after 8 months. Therefore, quails over 1 year of age should be culled early and, after short-term fattening, sold as meat quails.
2. Dietary nutrient level: after female quails start laying eggs, their appetite is strong, and their annual egg production is more than 300 eggs, so they must be supplied with sufficient high-quality feed, and particular attention should be paid to supplementing calcium and phosphorus in the diet. In production, compound feed should be fed, and whole grains should be fed as little as possible or not at all. The protein raw materials in the compound feed should generally account for more than 30% of the feed. Recommended quail feed formula: corn 51%, soybean meal 21%, peanut cake 10%, fish meal 3%, wheat bran 5%, shell powder 3%, stone powder 2%, 5% quail premix 5%. 3. Light: light has a great influence on the egg production rate of female quails, and a light period of 15 hours per day must be ensured. Because quails like red light, when natural light is insufficient, red fluorescent light is best used as a supplement. In addition, how many eggs quails lay is also related to the temperature and humidity of the environment. When the ambient temperature is below 15°C, the egg production rate of female quails decreases significantly. According to measurements, the suitable egg-laying temperature for quails is 18°C to 25°C. To ensure that quails lay more eggs, the humidity inside the house should be controlled at 50% to 60%, and sufficient clean drinking water and chopped green, succulent feed should be provided.
