Taiwan loach is a stomachless fish with a particularly fast emptying rate. Its intestine usually has the front section used for digesting food and the rear section used for respiration, and the digestion time of bait in the intestine is very short. Improper feeding will cause bloating, indigestion, and enteritis. When feeding, pay attention to the following aspects:

1. After Taiwan loach fry are stocked, start feeding an appropriate amount. An extruded feed with a protein content of 36%∼38% is best. Because extruded feed has good stability in water, high digestibility and absorption rate, and a lower loss rate than hard pellet feed, large-scale aquaculture should feed extruded feed with a particle size suitable for the mouth size of the loach fry. This can satisfy the loach's long feeding time and also reduce waste. First-generation purebred Taiwan loach fry have strong adaptability after the fry are put into the pond and good breeding benefits. 2. Taiwan loach is greedy for food, so in the breeding process, overfeeding should be avoided as much as possible. In principle, feeding to 70% full is best. Generally, feeding should be controlled so that the feed is finished within 1 hour. If it is finished within 30 minutes, it indicates that more feed should be added. If it is not finished after 2 hours, the feed should be appropriately reduced. When feeding extruded feed, soak the extruded feed in an appropriate amount of water before feeding, so that the extruded feed fully absorbs water and expands before feeding, so as to avoid Taiwan loach eating too much and affecting intestinal respiratory function. 3. The feeding of Taiwan loach is greatly related to water temperature. Below 12°C, no feeding is needed. Below 18°C, feed once a day. Above 18°C, feed twice a day. If the water temperature is higher than 30°C or lower than 12°C, the feeding amount should be reduced or even no feeding should be given. The most suitable growth water temperature for Taiwan loach is 22°C∼30°C. When the water temperature is 25°C∼28°C, the appetite is strong, predatory behavior is intense, and growth is rapid, so more feed can be given. However, when feeding, it should also be flexibly controlled according to water quality, weather, water temperature, and feeding conditions, so as to let the fish eat enough without leaving residual bait, thereby saving feed without spoiling water quality and maintaining a good water environment.
