When earthworms have been raised to a certain degree, apart from a portion used for continued breeding, the rest are harvested to feed centipedes. Different rearing methods require different harvesting methods, and roughly the following methods can be used.

1) Light-driving method. This method is suitable for harvesting in indoor rearing beds, rearing boxes and rearing pools. When most of the earthworms in the rearing bed reach 400-600 mg and the density reaches 15,000-20,000 per sq m, a portion can be harvested so as not to affect reproduction. The harvesting method can make use of the earthworm's aversion to light: under light, scrape the material layer by layer with a manure scraper, driving the earthworms to burrow into the lower layer of the rearing bed and gather into clumps. Then place the earthworms on a large basket with 5 mm mesh, put a collection container under the basket, and under light the earthworms automatically burrow down into the container below the sieve. The fecal pellets and organic matter adhering to the outside of the earthworms remain on the sieve. 2) Red-light night-catching method. This method is suitable for harvesting earthworms raised in fields. Making use of the habit of earthworms climbing to the soil surface at night to feed and move about, at 3-4 in the morning, carry a flashlight with red light or weak light and pick them up in the field. 3) Trap method. This method is used in indoor rearing beds and can also be used for harvesting earthworms raised in large fields. Before harvesting, place a layer of food that earthworms like to eat, such as rotten fruit, on the surface of the old feed. After 2-3 days the earthworms gather in large numbers in the rotten fruit; then quickly take out the swarming earthworms and clean off impurities through a sieve. In the field, you can choose feed that earthworms like to eat, pile it near the rearing trough, and collect the earthworms from the feed pile in the early morning of the next day. You can also dig a small ditch less than 10 cm deep along the rearing pool or its edge, bury 2 ceramic jars about 30 cm deep at the two ends of the ditch, or dig 2 earth pits; some earthworms crawl along the ditch at night and enter the ceramic jars or earth pits, and they can be collected before dawn.
