A Detailed Introduction to Three Methods of Snail Farming
1. Open-air farming method. Farmland can be used for farming. After plowing, break the soil up finely, plant broadleaf trees around the field for shade, and enclose the perimeter with netting to prevent the snails from escaping. A flat-roofed building's roof can also be used for farming: spread a layer of loose soil more than 10 cm thick on the roof, plant a few grapevines around it and set up trellises for shade, and likewise enclose the perimeter with netting. The advantages of the open-air farming method are fresh air and good humidity, so the snails grow quickly and are less affected by disease. Note that in dry weather you should sprinkle water promptly to keep the soil moist; when there is a lot of rain, drain promptly; and prevent harm from natural disasters and livestock and poultry, especially in households that keep cats.
2. Indoor farming method. This can be divided into two types: flat farming and multi-tier farming. Flat farming: indoors, build brick plots about 25 cm high and 2—3 sq m in size, and spread loose soil more than 10 cm thick inside the plots. Multi-tier farming: first make wooden boxes (about 25 cm high, with the length determined by need) and racks, spread loose soil more than 10 cm thick in the boxes, then place the boxes layer by layer on the racks. This farming method is simple and easy to carry out, requires little investment, and is safe. Note: open the doors and windows every day for ventilation; regulate the temperature and soil humidity; keep the soil clean and the indoor area hygienic; and cover the boxes with breathable netting to prevent the snails from escaping.
3. Plastic greenhouse farming method. Choose an open plot 30 m long and 6 m wide, plow it once, build a wall 30 cm high around it, construct a plastic greenhouse, and make doors at the front and back. After leveling and finely breaking up the plowed soil inside the greenhouse, farming can begin. The advantages of the plastic greenhouse farming method are that it is easy to regulate temperature and prevent natural enemies. Note, however, that in hot seasons you should add shade facilities and keep the soil moist with appropriate air circulation.
