What calcium supplement feeds are commonly used in quail farming
1. Stone powder is obtained by crushing high-quality limestone; its main component is natural calcium carbonate, containing 36%-39% calcium. It has a wide source, low price, and high utilization rate.
2. Bone meal contains large amounts of calcium and phosphorus, and its calcium and phosphorus are relatively balanced; supplementing with bone meal is better than shell powder, with its dosage accounting for about 1%-2% of the daily ration. 3. Shell powder is a product made from oyster and other shells through washing and crushing; it is grayish-white or gray powder, with calcium carbonate as its main component, containing more than 33% calcium. Note that shells piled up for many years by the seaside should be used preferentially, because after long-term piling, the organic matter attached to them has disappeared and there are fewer miscellaneous bacteria; fresh shells should be disinfected, because protein decay and attached bacteria and viruses are more numerous, and without disinfection they often cause disease in chickens. 4. Eggshell powder is made by drying eggshells and then making eggshell powder as a calcium source feed; it will contain some organic matter, generally with crude protein reaching 12.4% and calcium 24.5%-26.5%. When using it, care should also be taken to prevent eggshell contamination.
