Scorpion Farming Methods and Technical Points for Summer
Temperature and humidity are both major ecological factors in scorpion farming, but in production practice the coordination between them is even more important. If the relationship between temperature and humidity is not well coordinated, low temperature and low humidity, low temperature and high humidity, high temperature and high humidity, and high temperature and low humidity will often occur, all of which are unfavorable for the normal growth and development of scorpions. Under low temperature and low humidity, the growth and development of scorpions are inhibited; low temperature and high humidity easily cause scorpions to suffer from fungal diseases or bloating; high temperature and low humidity can cause chronic or acute dehydration and death in scorpions; high temperature and high humidity easily cause feed to spoil and deteriorate, and also easily cause scorpions to suffer from fungal and bacterial diseases. Therefore, after many experiments, this base has concluded: applying an imitation-ecological three-dimensional farming method and providing different temperature and humidity environments allows scorpions to independently choose the suitable environment for their own survival, meets the ecological needs of scorpions for molting, activity, growth and development, and reproduction, and solves farming failures caused by an unsuitable environment.
Key points for scorpion farming in summer. Summer is the peak season for scorpion activity, so doing a good job in summer scorpion management is very important for improving economic benefits. Scorpions have strong vitality and generally rarely get sick; the main causes of common diseases are improper management. Scorpion mite disease: this disease is caused by mite parasitism. It is prone to occur under high temperature and high humidity. Sick scorpions develop yellow-brown dotted mold spots on the pedipalps and chest and abdomen, have difficulty moving, gradually become emaciated, and die. Prevention and control methods: reduce the environmental temperature and humidity, remove deteriorated feed, and do a good job in environmental hygiene. Strictly spray and disinfect with a 0.1% potassium permanganate solution; mix 0.5 g of oxytetracycline or 0.5 g of compound sulfonamide with 500 g of food and feed until recovery. Body-flaccidity disease: the cause is a sudden arrival of high temperature, causing acute dehydration. The scorpion colony suddenly shows abnormal activity, panic and restlessness, then the limbs and segments soften, the tail drags downward, function is lost, body color darkens, and finally the scorpion body becomes paralyzed and dies. Prevention and control methods: promptly open windows for ventilation or use a fan to lower the temperature, and feed foods with high water content such as melons, fruits, and vegetable leaves; immediately pick out the sick scorpions and replenish water. The method is to add a little salt and white sugar to hot water at 30-35 degrees and spray it on the surface of the scorpions' bodies (just spray them wet). The dead scorpions can be processed and dried for medicinal use. Ground beetles are a relatively good main feed. Put soon-to-hatch ground beetle eggs into small scorpion nests, and the small scorpions can at any time prey on the newly hatched ground beetles. Next are yellow mealworms, rice worms, and others. Small white worms grown from fermented green grass mixed with bran are also good feed for scorpions. Do a good job in managing mother scorpions after giving birth: after mother scorpions give birth to young scorpions, after molting, when the young scorpions turn black, use a chicken feather to sweep the young scorpions off the mother's back and carry out mother-young separation, avoiding the phenomenon of young scorpions eating the mother scorpion. Prevent and control scorpion diseases, pay attention to the hygiene of the scorpions' growth environment, change the water frequently, and when feeding, take care not to let rotten and deteriorated food remain in the scorpion nest.
