Cattle farming requires good daily health care to ensure the cattle stay healthy
After entering spring, the temperature difference between day and night is relatively large. The temperature inside the cattle shed should be kept at 8°C to 20°C, with good ventilation, and attention should be paid to frequently changing the bedding straw. Keep the cattle pen dry, do not let humidity get too high, and strictly prevent a wet pen to help retain warmth; otherwise, it will cause a decline in dairy cow milk production, and in severe cases it will also cause dairy cows to suffer from some diseases caused by fungi. Often spread some lime powder or plant ash inside the shed; this can both reduce the humidity inside the shed and disinfect and prevent disease, which is helpful for increasing milk production.
Because during the winter housing period, long-term feeding of low-quality hay, straw and other roughage feed will cause vitamin E deficiency, increase the incidence of white muscle disease in calves, so vitamin E must be supplemented. Before feeding, the forage should be carefully checked to avoid various diseases caused by moldy and deteriorated forage, and attention should also be paid to supplementing minerals and vitamins. In the regular feed, supplement more bone meal, calcium phosphate, calcium hydrogen phosphate, etc.; these contain both calcium and phosphorus and have relatively high digestibility and utilization. After feeding the cattle until full, sufficient clean warm water should be provided. Cattle must not be given cold water; the water temperature should be controlled at around 25°C. Cold water easily irritates the cattle's stomach and intestines, causing gastrointestinal diseases, and pregnant cows are also prone to miscarriage. In addition, cold water will consume a lot of the cattle's heat energy and waste feed. At the same time, adding a little salt and soybean powder to the warm water when feeding cattle can help reduce internal heat and reduce inflammation.
Brushing the cattle's body can keep the cattle clean and sanitary, promote blood circulation and metabolism, enhance disease resistance, and reduce the occurrence of diseases such as colds. Brush twice a day, morning and evening, for 3 to 5 minutes each time, and brush all parts of the body thoroughly without omissions.
