Five methods to master for improving the conception rate of cows
Strengthening feeding is the foundation. For cattle raising, there must be a simple shade shed for heat protection in summer and an insulated cattle barn in winter. Cows must be provided with a full-price nutritional feed to ensure they eat their fill and eat well. Every possible means must be used to raise the cows' body condition to above 70 percent fatness, and it is advocated to build up fat to promote estrus and mate at full fatness.
Washing the uterus is the safeguard. Washing the uterus of postpartum cows plays an important role in preventing retained placenta after calving. The flushing fluid can be oxytetracycline powder 3-4 grams, diluted with 500-1000 milliliters of 0.9% physiological saline, and poured into the uterus in batches until the flushing fluid is transparent.
Treat obstetric diseases promptly. For bovine endometritis and vaginitis, after washing the uterus and injecting antibiotics to reduce inflammation, they can soon be cured. For anestrous cows with insufficient ovarian function, inject 0.5% neostigmine solution into the cervical canal, 2 milliliters each time, 3 injections, at an interval of 48 hours, and at the same time as the second injection inject 1000 international units of pregnant mare serum gonadotropin, which can restore ovarian function to normal in more than 80% of anestrous cows.
Do not be passive with drug-induced estrus. To improve the conception rate of cows, one must not passively wait for the cows' natural estrus. Lactating cows and cows that have not been in estrus for a long time must be treated with pregnant mare serum or triple hormone to induce estrus. The drug-induced estrus rate can be above 70%.
Early separation, early estrus. After calves are 7 days old, separate the mother and calf, and raise the calves by artificial feeding. This method can promote earlier estrus in cows.
