China has exceptionally favorable conditions for raising wild hares: abundant grass resources and a suitable climate, and the vast majority of regions meet the conditions for raising wild hares; wild hares have strong stress resistance and adaptability, grow and develop quickly when raised, cost little, and yield large returns, and generally after three months of raising they can be sold on the market. If you want to raise wild hares well, introduction is a very important step and is directly related to the economic benefits of raising wild hares. When introducing them, you must get the “four key points” right.

Age point: Select young wild hares over 60 days of age and weighing more than 2 kg as breeding hares. Wild hares that are too young or too light have weak disease resistance and poor adaptability, are difficult to adapt to long-distance transport and changes in feeding management, and are not suitable for introduction.

Health point: When selecting wild hares, carefully check their health status. The wild hares are required to have clean eyes and make no sound when breathing. Male wild hares must have no genital inflammation, their feces must be pellet-shaped, their appetite normal, and their coat glossy and not messy.

Transport point: Use special transport cages for loading and shipping. In hot summer, it is not suitable to transport at noon, so as to prevent the wild hares from suffering heatstroke; it is best to transport in the morning and evening. During transport, carefully care for the wild hares and often observe their activity. Pay special attention that wild hares are very wild by nature, and once loaded into cages they will collide with one another, so prevent them from injuring one another by stepping or trampling each other to death.

Feeding point: After the breeding hares arrive home, do not rush to feed them. First give the hares a small amount of water, let them rest for a while, and then feed them some tender green grass. Within 10 days, try to keep the management and feeding methods consistent with those of the place of introduction, then gradually change the feeding method until it is converted to normal feeding.
