What are the precautions for freshwater shrimp (Macrobrachium nipponense) farming in spring?
1. Timely split stocking. When the water temperature rises above 20°C, freshwater shrimp begin molting, and at this time the shrimp body is easily bruised and infected. Before stocking, do a good job of drying the pond, and use quicklime, active iodine and other drugs for rapid disinfection; for ponds with moss, green algae, and blue-green algae, spray the entire pond once with copper sulfate. The stocking rate per mu depends on the size of the shrimp seed, generally controlled at 10-20 kg.
2. Water quality management. After the shrimp seed is put into the pond, the water level should not be too shallow; keep the water level above 60 cm, and add new water once every 7-10 days. For ponds with relatively lean water, pile 200-400 kg of fermented organic fertilizer. If the pond water is relatively fertile, then after the temperature rises, apply 5-7.5 kg of inorganic fertilizer per mu. Properly transplant aquatic plants in the pond, accounting for about 30% of the total area, and remove them promptly when there is too much.
3. Feed feeding. When the water temperature rises above 18°C, feed promptly. At first, feed once a day, then gradually transition to feeding once each in the morning and afternoon, feeding a self-mixed feed of rice bran, wheat bran, and soybean cake or a complete pellet feed for freshwater shrimp, and add animal-based feed such as small trash fish and fishmeal; the feeding amount accounts for 3-6% of the body weight of the shrimp in the pond. Adjust the feeding amount promptly according to the shrimp's daily feeding situation.
4. Disease prevention. In mid-March, use quicklime and active iodine dissolved in water to splash the whole pond once to prevent bacterial infection caused by bruising. When ciliatosis occurs, first use “Xianchongjing” to kill the parasites, and after an interval of 5-7 days use a bactericidal drug once more.
5. Prevent floating head. Pay close attention to changes in weather and water quality, do not blindly use drugs, pay attention to frequently adding new water, and effectively do a good job of preventing floating head. For shrimp ponds with high stocking density, when the temperature rises, turn on the aerator for 1-2 hours at noon to increase dissolved oxygen in the water and prevent shrimp death caused by hypoxia and floating head.
