Sharing Experience on Artificial Propagation of Farmed Carp in Autumn

General News By Sophie Bennett 0 views
Carp can reproduce in both spring and autumn, but in conventional production, spring reproduction is the main approach. With the development of fishery production and changes in production models, reproducing fry only in spring is now far from meeting the needs of fishery production. Therefore, based on market demand, our farm has carried out carp fry propagation in both spring and autumn, and both have achieved good results. Below is an introduction to autumn carp fry propagation techniques for everyone's reference.

Using household dancai flowing-water fish ponds for artificial propagation of carp fry in autumn can meet the needs of spring stocking, shorten the fry breeding cycle, and increase output. There are five techniques for artificial propagation of carp fry in autumn:

1. Broodstock selection. Choose mature broodstock weighing more than 500 grams. Female carp should have a swollen and soft abdomen, with redness and swelling around the anus and genital pore, and congestion; when the abdomen of a male carp is pressed, white milt flows out, and there is no redness or swelling near the anus.

2. Male-to-female ratio. After selecting good male and female broodstock, pair them in a ratio of 1:5 to 7. If more male carp are added, it can accelerate the female carp's estrus.

3. Hanging in water to spawn. Place the male and female broodstock in a fish basket and hang them in water, and place spawning nests, with the fish back about 3 cm below the water surface, so as to use temperature difference stimulation and slight flowing water stimulation to achieve spawning. If 2 ml of 50% glucose is injected at the scaleless area at the base of the pectoral fin of each female carp, the spawning effect is even better.

4. Incubation notes. ① Do not let the water in the spawning pond and incubation pond be too fertile. If the water is relatively fertile, it will cause broodstock to gasp at the surface, fail to spawn, or the eggs will fail to develop into fry due to oxygen deficiency in fertile water. The spawning pond and incubation pond should be filled with fresh water and kept with slight flowing water. The water temperature should preferably be 18 to 22°C. ② For spawning nests, use water hyacinth with smooth fibrous roots and no mud, and cut off the stems and leaves to avoid sticking to the eggs and causing them to be killed by sunlight. ③ Prevent male fish from eating the eggs to increase the hatching rate.

5. Artificial hormone stimulation. Giving carp artificial hormone stimulation can make the carp spawn on schedule and increase the number of eggs.
