Building a free-range native chicken farm requires considering many issues, such as the sales market, the introduction of chicks, and the construction of the coop, and so on. There are too many factors involved, so here we will only talk about the selection of the farming site.

Before building the farm, you must determine the scale of raising, and at the same time also determine the purpose of the free-range native chickens, whether they are laying hens or laying hens, whether they are commercial chickens or breeding chickens.

First of all, the issue of site selection must be considered, and site selection must be determined according to the scale of raising and the nature of raising of the chicken farm (commercial raising, commercial laying hens, or breeding chickens, etc.). Whether the site selection is appropriate is related to sanitation and epidemic prevention, the growth of the chickens, and the work efficiency of the keepers, and is related to the success or failure and benefits of chicken farming.

Site selection should consider comprehensive factors, such as area, terrain, soil, orientation, wind direction, transportation, water source, power source, epidemic prevention conditions, local crop planting conditions, etc. Specifically, site selection should be conducive to production.

First, complete supporting facilities. Convenient transportation is conducive to transporting feed in and products out. There must be a water source and a power source. The water source is best tap water; if there is no tap water, then choose a place with abundant groundwater resources suitable for digging a well, and the water quality must meet sanitary requirements. Stay away from towns, main traffic lines, chemical plants, slaughterhouses, meat processing plants, hospitals, and residential areas to facilitate epidemic prevention.

Second, the site should be in a high, dry, and well-drained place. If in a plain area, choose a place with high and dry terrain, slightly sloping to the south or southeast; if in a mountainous or hilly area, it is advisable to choose a south slope with an incline of less than 20 degrees. Such a place is convenient for drainage and receiving sunlight, warm in winter and cool in summer. It is best to have a fish pond within the site to facilitate sewage discharge, make use of waste, and carry out integrated operations.

Finally, the site must be independent and form a closed system, that is, a wall can be built to prevent outsiders as well as outside livestock, poultry, and wild animals from entering. There must be shade within the site so that the native chickens are not exposed to the sun when moving outside.
