How to prevent and treat red skin disease in loach? Prevention and treatment methods farmers must know
Cao Jiafeng from Liangxu Town, Jiangyan City, called to report that the loach he was farming recently showed symptoms of reddening of the pectoral fins and then reddening of the whole body. The diseased loach floated on the water surface and soon died, with about 250 grams dying each day. He asked what disease the loach had contracted and how to prevent and treat it.
From the situation reported by Cao Jiafeng, the loach may have contracted red skin disease. Red skin disease is also called skin plague or scraped skin plague. Red skin disease in loach occurs because the loach body is scraped and injured, the water quality deteriorates, and infection by Pseudomonas fluorescens is triggered. The disease can occur in all four seasons. The body surface of the diseased loach becomes congested and inflamed, with congestion and ulceration of the fins, abdominal skin and around the anus; the caudal fin and pectoral fins become congested and rot away; the tissue between the fin rays is often destroyed and takes on a broom-like appearance.
To treat red skin disease in loach, a combination of external disinfectants and oral antibacterial drugs can be used.
External disinfectants: (1) Add 1 gram of bleaching powder per cubic meter of water and splash it over the whole pond. (2) Add 2 grams of Chinese gallnut per cubic meter of water and splash it over the whole pond. (3) Add 0.3 grams of sodium dichloroisocyanurate per cubic meter of water and splash it over the whole pond. (4) Add 0.2-0.5 milliliters of double-chain quaternary ammonium salt per cubic meter of water and splash it over the whole pond. Oral antibacterial drugs: mix 50-100 milligrams of sulfonamide drugs per kilogram of loach body weight into the feed and administer for 6 consecutive days.
To prevent red skin disease in loach, avoid injuring the loach body during stocking, harvesting and transport. Before the fry and fingerlings are put into the pond, soak them for about 10 minutes in a 5-8 mg/L bleaching powder solution or a 2-5 mg oxytetracycline solution, and maintain good water quality during the farming process.
