Feed formulation should be diversified. Use a variety of combinations, feed three times a day, and base the concentrate on cornmeal, soybean cake, cottonseed cake and wheat bran, with sufficient drinking water.

Ensure green fodder. In winter and spring, when green fodder is scarce, chop green grass and crop straw and make them into silage, and suitably add some carrots so that the dairy cattle have green fodder all year round.

Management

Regular grooming and hoof trimming. Groom and brush the cattle body at fixed times every day, which can remove dust from the cattle body, promote blood circulation, speed up metabolism, strengthen the physique, and encourage the dairy cattle to produce more milk.

Milking at fixed times. Milking at fixed times can effectively prevent the occurrence of mastitis in dairy cattle, promote milk secretion, and increase the milk yield of dairy cattle. Generally, milking once every 8 hours is appropriate.

Strengthen postpartum management of dairy cattle. After the calf is born, separate the mother and calf and carry out artificial rearing. To prevent the cow from becoming ill after calving, depending on the cow's body condition, inject an appropriate amount of Houttuynia cordata and antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs such as penicillin and sulfonamides, so as to eliminate the occurrence of obstetric diseases.

Good methods to increase milk. Some cows do not have full udders after calving and secrete little or no milk. Cows half an hour after calving should be fed a bran, salt and brown sugar porridge. Preparation method: wheat bran 0.5 kg, salt 40-50 g, brown sugar 0.5-1.0 kg, warm water 10-15 kg, mix evenly, and feed at one time.

Maintain hygiene and protect health. Dairy cattle like dry and cool environmental conditions, therefore the cowshed should be kept clean, hygienic and dry.

Carefully observe the activity status of dairy cattle. Before each feeding, carefully observe the cattle's eating, defecation and daily activity status. If abnormalities are found, adjust promptly and promptly ask a veterinarian for diagnosis and treatment.
