1. Pathogens

Chilodonella cyprini, Trichodina.

2. Symptoms

Both parasites attach to the skin and gills of fish, stimulating the secretion of large amounts of mucus, causing a pale blue film to form on the skin surface of diseased fish (chilodonelliasis) or a white film to appear on the fins, head, and body surface (trichodiniasis). Diseased fish show reduced appetite, become thin and darkened, float at the water surface or lie on their side, swim slowly, stay near the edge, have difficulty breathing, and may even die.

3. Control methods

① For fish found before stocking to be infested with Chilodonella and Trichodina, bathe them for 15-30 minutes in an 8 mg/L copper sulfate aqueous solution or a copper sulfate and ferrous sulfate combined solution (5:2); or bathe them for 5-10 minutes in a 2%-4% salt water solution.

② When these two diseases occur during the overwintering period, either can be treated by splashing a copper sulfate and ferrous sulfate combined solution (5:2) over the entire pond, making the pond water reach a concentration of 0.7 mg/L.

③ For each mu with a water depth of 1.5 m, use 5 kg each of chinaberry leaves (fruit), Masson pine, and camphor tree leaves, boil them into 50 kg of juice, and splash it over the entire pond once a day for three consecutive days. Or use 20 kg of eucalyptus leaves, boil them into juice and mix with 100 kg of water, and splash it over the entire pond once a day for 3-4 consecutive days.
