Cage specifications for yellow catfish cage culture

General News By Sophie Bennett 0 views
Cage specifications include the mesh size and the length, width, and height of the cage. For cages used to culture yellow catfish, the cage body should not be too large; these are small cages. The mesh size depends on the size of the fish fry stocked. 1. Matching cages of different specifications Cage matching means setting up cages of different specifications according to the different growth stages of the fish fry. To stock fry about 2 cm long, it is necessary to prepare sufficient first- and second- (or third-) level fry cages and first- and second-level grow-out cages with different mesh sizes. If fry 5 cm long are stocked, it is only necessary to prepare sufficient second-level grow-out cages with different mesh sizes, so that individuals with growth differences can be separated and reared.

2. Mesh size and cage specifications First-level fry cages are made of mesh cloth of about 20 mesh, with a cage body size of 2 m×1.5 m×1.5 m (length×width&height, the same below), or 3 m×2 m×1.5 m; second-level fry cages have a mesh size of 0.4-0.5 cm and are open-top cages, with specifications of 2 m×1.5 m×1.5 m or 2 m×2 m×1.5 m (third-level cages have a mesh size of 0.8-1 cm and the same specifications as above); for grow-out cages, choose polyethylene closed cages with a mesh size of 1 cm or 1.5-2 cm, with specifications of 4 m×4 m×2 m or 5 m×5 m×2.5 m, in a double-layer closed structure. Generally, the mesh size of the outer cage should be larger than that of the inner cage, and 2-2.5 cm may be selected.
