Sharing Experience and Methods for Pheasant Brooding
The so-called pheasant generally refers to the ring-necked pheasant. Pheasant brooding is like the infant stage of a child; the importance of this period goes without saying. In fact, if you master the techniques well, brooding work is relatively simple. Generally, you mainly need to focus on heat preservation, feeding, disease prevention and other techniques to achieve good breeding benefits.
When building the rearing house, you must take the heat preservation effect into consideration, such as using insulation materials, increasing wall thickness, building insulation sheds, and so on. Spread 5 to 10 cm thick sawdust, rice husks, etc. inside the house, which can both absorb moisture and preserve heat. If conditions permit, infrared light bulbs can be used, and the number of bulbs depends on whether the normal temperature can be reached. 1 to 2 days before the chicks enter the house, heat the rearing house in advance, raise the temperature to 36°C, and keep it stable. For the first three days after the chicks arrive, keep the house temperature at 36°C, then gradually lower the temperature: 35-36°C in the 2nd week; 33-34°C in the 3rd week; 30-31°C in the 4th week. Whether the house temperature is suitable can be judged by observing the flock: if the chicks crowd together under the heat source, are restless, and chirp incessantly, it means the temperature is too low; otherwise, it is too high. For the first week, 24-hour lighting can be used, and afterward the lighting time should be gradually reduced.
After the chicks arrive, give them water first, then start feeding; of course, they can also be done at the same time, depending on the specific situation. Glucose or multivitamins can be added to the drinking water.
In terms of disease prevention, first of all, maintain a suitable temperature so that the chicks can fully absorb the yolk. Prevent them from catching cold and improve the body's resistance. After that, prevent pullorum disease. After 15 days of age, carry out coccidiosis prevention according to the specific situation. Some breeders choose to use potassium permanganate water for the first drinking water. Use antibiotics at preventive doses, and carry out vaccination according to the immunization program.
