As people's living standards continue to rise, more and more people are staying out late at night, and most young people who go out at night get together with a few friends. Snails sell quite well in the late-night snack industry, many people like to eat them, and their flavor is excellent.

Daily Management Experience in Snail Farming

1. Farming water body

Snails have strong adaptability and few diseases. As long as they avoid poisoning by large amounts of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, they can be stocked in many ordinary water bodies in rural areas, such as flat canals, stream banks, pits, rice paddies and ponds. Keep the bottom mud 10cm -15cm thick; the size of the area is not limited. If the water body is open, a small amount of red azolla and water lilies can be cultivated on the surface, some long-vine melons and vegetables can be planted around the pond with trellises for shade, and bamboo tips, branches, stones or grass can be placed in the water for snails to hide and rest. Ten days before stocking snails, apply quicklime to the whole pond at 50kg-100kg per 1/15 hectare to eliminate wild fish, shrimp and other miscellaneous snails; after 3 days -4 days, pile organic fertilizer in the water body and breed bait organisms for snails to feed on.

2. Stocking of parent snails

Stocking parent snails is best done before the snail breeding season. Sources of parent snails: one is collecting them in the wild, and the other is collecting them from the market. Choose live snails with light brown color, thin but intact shells, and round bodies with blunt tops. Generally, in natural extensive water bodies, stock 0.1kg-0.5kg of parent snails per sq m; in intensive culture ponds, the stocking amount can be increased by 2 times -3 times. Snails can be farmed alone, or partly polycultured with silver carp and bighead carp fingerlings, or mixed with loach.

3. Feeding management

In extensive farming in natural waters, it is only necessary to maintain water fertility; applying an appropriate amount of organic fertilizers such as barnyard manure, chicken manure, cow manure, pig manure or rice straw at intervals can meet the growth needs of snails. Under high-density intensive culture, artificial feed must be given. Snails do not have high nutritional requirements; simply mixing rice bran, wheat bran and soybean powder in a ratio of 60%, 25% and 15% makes a top-grade feed for snails.

According to the feeding situation of snails and the climate, within the suitable growth temperature (that is, 20℃-28℃), snails have a strong appetite and can be fed once every two days, with each feeding amount being 2%-3% of body weight. When the water temperature is 15℃-20℃ or 28℃-30℃, feed twice a week, about 1% each time. When the temperature is lower than 15℃ or higher than 30℃, feed less or not at all.

4. Daily management work

Strictly prevent water sources polluted by pesticides and chemical fertilizers from flowing in; prevent invasion by natural enemies such as ducks, snakes, rats and birds; remove weeds and grass roots in the water in time. Usually adopt a micro-flow water form and keep the water level at about 30cm. In hot seasons, increase the water flow to control the rise in water temperature and ensure sufficient dissolved oxygen in the water. In cold weather, snails enter the mud to hibernate; at this time, change the water 1 time -2 times a week, and scatter some chopped rice straw into the water body to help the snails overwinter.

Prospects for Snail Farming

Snail meat is a nutrient-rich natural health food, and abroad it is also called a beauty food. It contains up to 10.3% protein and 1.2% fat, and also vitamins, calcium, iron and other elements essential to the human body. Snail meat is nutritionally superior to chicken, duck, goose and pork, and is no less than crucian carp and sea cucumber. Snail meat can nourish kidney yin, improve eyesight and clear the mind, enhance muscle elasticity and make the skin delicate.

Snails can be used as an everyday meat dish, and can also be processed into a series of foods, cooked into many medicinal dishes, and used to prevent and treat diseases. At present, naturally growing snails are far from meeting market demand, and snail farming grows fast and has high yield, so snail farming has broad "money" prospects.

Cost of Snail Farming

Since snail farming does not require feeding much bait, the cost of its bait is also very low. Therefore, basically little cost is needed; as long as your family has fields, all that remains is the snail seedlings.

The benefits of snail farming are relatively significant. For dedicated snail farming, 667m2 can produce 400kg. The current market price is 3-4 yuan/kg; calculated at 3.5 yuan/kg, the output value of 667m2 can reach 1400 yuan. In addition, a small number of grass carp can be polycultured in the snail pond to increase the benefit per unit area of the pond. Since snail farming does not require feeding much bait, the cost of its bait is also very low. Therefore, the net profit of snail farming is about 1000 yuan/667m2, a fairly considerable benefit.

Nutritional Value of Snails

Rich in protein, it helps maintain potassium-sodium balance; eliminates edema. Improves immunity. Lowers blood pressure and buffers anemia, and is beneficial to growth and development. Calcium is the basic raw material for bone development and directly affects height; it regulates enzyme activity; participates in the activity of nerves and muscles and the release of neurotransmitters; regulates hormone secretion; regulates heart rhythm and reduces cardiovascular permeability; controls inflammation and edema; maintains acid-base balance, etc.

Rich in copper, copper is an indispensable micronutrient for human health and has an important impact on blood, the central nervous system and the immune system, hair, skin and bone tissue, as well as the development and function of internal organs such as the brain, liver and heart. Rich in iron, iron is a necessary component of blood formation and is suitable for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia.

Dietary therapy value

1. Clearing heat: Snails can clear the heart and purge fire, clear heat and relieve irritability, and can eliminate heat toxins in the blood. They can treat heat-type difficult urination, jaundice, beriberi, hemorrhoids and bloody stool.

2. Diuresis: They contain diuretic components, can eliminate water and sodium retention in the body, and promote diuresis and reduce swelling. They can treat edema, red swollen and painful eyes, and boils and swellings.

3. Relieving thirst: Moistens the throat and removes dryness, making people feel refreshed and comfortable. They can treat wasting thirst.

4. Sobering up: Snails can relieve the toxicity of ethanol and promote rapid excretion after drinking.

From the above analysis, it is not hard to see that the prospects for snail farming are very good, and its market demand increases every day. Snails not only taste excellent, they also have certain nutritional value.
