Yellow cattle are a native ordinary cattle breed of China. Their number raised in China ranks first among all large livestock or among cattle, and they are raised in almost every region nationwide. In farming areas they are mainly used for draft purposes, in semi-farming semi-pastoral areas for both draft and milk, and in pastoral areas for both milk and meat. Their body shape and performance vary with the natural environment and raising conditions, and they can be divided into 3 major types: northern yellow cattle, central plains yellow cattle and southern yellow cattle. Representative breeds of Chinese yellow cattle include Qinchuan cattle, Nanyang cattle, Luxi cattle, Jinnan cattle and Yanbian cattle. So how should the yellow cattle fattening formula be chosen?

1. Feed formula based mainly on corn silage (wet weight): corn silage 80.8%, corn 17.1%, cottonseed cake 2.1%.

2. Feed formula based mainly on distillers' grains (wet weight) (taking a growing beef cattle of 300 kg body weight as an example): corn 1.5 kg, fresh distillers' grains 15 kg, millet straw 2.5 kg, urea 70 g , salt 30 g , additive premix 100 g . Because the crude protein degradability of distillers' grains is low, it easily leads to insufficient degradable nitrogen in the cattle rumen, reducing the digestibility of crude fiber. If a certain proportion of urea is added to the distillers' grains ration, better results can be achieved.

3. Formula for beef cattle under 300 kg body weight in large-scale cattle farms: corn 61 kg, bran 15 kg, cotton (mixed) cake 20 kg, salt 1 kg, bone meal 1 kg. Each head of cattle receives 100 g premix per day, 2 kg concentrate, with roughage provided for free feeding.

4. Fattening formula for beef cattle over 300 kg body weight in large-scale cattle farms: corn 70 kg, bran 13 kg, cotton (mixed) cake 15 kg, salt 1 kg, bone meal 1 kg. Each head of cattle receives 100 g premix per day, 3-3.5 kg concentrate, with roughage provided for free feeding.
