As autumn approaches, mandarin fish farmers should pay attention, so what are the precautions for farming mandarin fish in autumn? Below we introduce them for you. Improving pond water quality As autumn arrives, the feed intake of mandarin fish increases, and more waste is produced every day, which easily leads to excessive levels of harmful substances such as ammonia nitrogen and nitrite in the water. Therefore, the water should be changed frequently, once every 7 days, with each water change of about 20 cm.

For every 5 mu to 6 mu of mandarin fish pond area, equip 1 3-kilowatt aerator, and run the aerator for 2 hours to 3 hours at noon on sunny days, which can mix the upper and lower water layers, eliminate oxygen debt, and increase the dissolved oxygen reserve of the fish pond. Run the aerator from around 12 midnight until dawn. In case of showers or muggy weather, start the aerator earlier at night, and at the same time equip with granular oxygen and splash it over the whole pond.

Enhance fish constitution Master reasonable farming density and scientific mixed culture, with a stocking density of about 850 fish per mu.

Require that each feeding amount of bait fish is 2 times to 3 times the daily feed intake of mandarin fish, adding once every 2 days to 3 days, so as not to let mandarin fish overeat and grow too rapidly.

Disease prevention and control For bait fish planned for harvesting, disinfect and deworm 3 days to 5 days in advance, and if necessary, combine with feeding medicated bait for 3 days to 5 days. After ensuring the bait fish are healthy, then harvest and put them into the mandarin fish pond.

In autumn, as water temperature drops, it reaches the optimum breeding temperature for Trichodina and Chilodonella, which is the high-incidence season for Trichodina and Chilodonella in mandarin fish, and Chilodonella and Trichodina are often parasitic at the same time. They stimulate and damage the gill filaments, fin rays, and body surface, causing sick fish to secrete large amounts of mucus, making the skin and gill surface appear pale or forming a layer of light gray film on the skin surface. In severe cases, sick fish float on the water surface, have difficulty breathing, and the operculum turns golden red, and they soon die, with a mortality rate as high as over 90%. For this reason, prevention and treatment should be carried out simultaneously, and the following points should be noted:  1. When using medication, ensure the water quality is fresh and dissolved oxygen is sufficient.

2. In the mandarin fish pond, use 2% salt water or a mixture of copper sulfate and potassium permanganate (5:2) every day, splashing once, so that the pond water reaches a concentration of 0.3 to 0.4 grams per cubic meter.

3. When the disease is relatively severe, use 10 mg/L formalin or 20 mg/L benzalkonium bromide disinfectant solution to soak the fish body for 10 minutes, or use 3-5% salt water to soak the fish body for 5-10 minutes, once a day.

4. Splash a mixture of copper sulfate and ferrous sulfate (5:2) over the whole pond, so that the pond water reaches a concentration of 0.7 grams per cubic meter. For flowing water application, use a concentration of 1.2-1.4 grams per cubic meter (adjust specifically according to the tolerance of the mandarin fish), once a day. Use twice consecutively

5. Splash 20 mg/L formalin over the whole pond, which is more effective than using copper sulfate and ferrous sulfate.
