Key Technical Points and Daily Rearing Methods for Mini Fragrant Pig Farming
The mini fragrant pig is a miniature pig breed found only in our country worldwide. It has characteristics such as thick lean meat, fine fiber, small fat granules, rich fragrance, early maturity and easy reproduction, and rarely exceeds 30 kg in body weight.
How much can a mini fragrant pig sell for?
Generally speaking, the price of a male fragrant pig is around 300 to 400, and the price of a female fragrant pig is around 500 to 600. The editor reminds everyone, do not be greedy for cheap prices, otherwise it is easy to buy fake fragrant pigs. At the same time, according to the pricing of different merchants, French and Japanese fragrant pig breeds that are purebred should be a bit more expensive, but particularly cheap ones are definitely not purebred enough.
Farming benefits of mini fragrant pigs
1. Tolerant of coarse feed: Fragrant pigs are mainly raised by grazing and often eat wild grass, fragrant rice, and other green feed, which gives suckling pig meat a special fragrance. Each replacement sow (2 to 4 months old) consumes an average of 0.2 kg of concentrated feed and 1 kg of green feed per day. Pregnant and lactating sows consume an average of 0.4 kg of concentrated feed and 2 kg of green feed per day, so feed consumption is low.
2. Strong adaptability: Fragrant pigs have strong adaptability to climate and rarely get sick. During rearing, the environment should be quiet, and the exercise area should be somewhat large.
3. Easy to manage: Fragrant pigs reach sexual maturity early, tolerate inbreeding, and have stable heredity. Boars at 2 months old and 8 kg in weight begin to show mounting sexual behavior, and breeding is carried out at 3 months old. Sows come into estrus at 3 months old and can be bred at 4 months old, with an average of 7 to 10 piglets per litter. A male-to-female ratio of 1:8 to 10 is good.
4. Market value: Mini fragrant pigs have thin skin and fine bones, tender meat, and a delicious taste. They are suitable for processing roast suckling pig and have excellent characteristics, while also having broad prospects as experimental animals or pets.
Mini fragrant pig farming technology
1. Build the pig house well. A pig house should be built on flat land that is dry and sheltered from the wind and facing the sun. The pig house can be in single-row or double-row form, but it must have walls built with brick and stone and surfaces finished with cement, so it can be washed and cleaned and the pig house kept clean. Mini fragrant pig houses should be built somewhat taller than ordinary pig houses. According to the experience of mini fragrant pig farmers, each mini fragrant pig should occupy 0.8 sq m, and 8 to 10 pigs per pen is suitable. A manure disposal area should be set up outside the pig house. The area of the manure disposal area should be a little larger than the pig house; calculated at 1.5 sq m per pig, 10 pigs should have a 15 sq m manure disposal area. In summer, pigs need a shaded awning. In winter, plastic sheds should be used to raise the room temperature. This is an important condition for raising mini fragrant pigs well.
2. Strengthen the management of suckling piglets. Feeding piglets well is the key to increasing the survival rate and the quality of commercial pigs. After mini fragrant pigs are born, the sow's teats should be fixed so the piglets can drink good colostrum, and warmth should be strengthened so they can start eating early. Generally, after 4 days of birth, concentrated feed can be supplemented. After one month of age, vaccines for swine fever, swine erysipelas, and swine pasteurellosis should be injected in time.
3. Scientifically feed adult pigs. Mini fragrant pigs are lively and active, but also timid and easily frightened, so a quiet, dry, and clean rearing environment should be maintained. Feeding should be based mainly on feed such as barley, rice bran, and wheat bran. However, weaned piglets should be fed compound feed. The feed formula is: corn 10%, rice bran 50%, soybean cake 8% to 10%, wheat bran 30%, flour 1%, salt 0.5%. Each kg of feed should contain 10.5 megajoules of digestible energy and 16.2% crude protein. In order to improve feed returns and reach the standard for commercial pigs as soon as possible, scientific feeding should be implemented. First, feed at fixed times, 4 meals per day, starting at 7 a.m., once every 4 hours; second, feed a fixed amount. For pigs weighing more than 20 kg, feed at 4.5% of their body weight; for pigs within 20 kg, feed at 3.5% of their body weight. At the same time, achieve open feeding in the front and restriction in the back, that is, let them move more at 2 months of age to promote frame growth, and after 2 months of age, restrict their movement to promote fattening, so as to ensure a relatively high dressing percentage. Fragrant pigs grow very fast. Breeding pigs can generally be bred at about 4 months of age, piglets have all their teeth by three months after birth, and they can be marketed at 6 months, when they can grow to more than 30 jin.
4. Pay attention to epidemic prevention and disease treatment. First, prevent disease before it occurs: wash manure once every day, build a shade awning in summer for sun protection, cover with a warm shed in winter for heat preservation, often scrub the feed trough and water trough, and regularly disinfect the pig house. Second, treat disease early: especially pay attention to preventing and treating piglet paratyphoid.
5. Market at the right time. After piglets are raised for 5 to 7 weeks, they can be marketed as raw material for roast pig, and at this time they should be marketed in time. If selling breeding pigs, then market them according to the prescribed time.
Food matching for mini fragrant pigs
1. Bran feed: Bran feed includes rice bran, wheat bran, sweet potato vine bran, peanut vine bran, broad bean leaf bran, soybean straw bran, etc. The amount used for pigs is 10% to 15% of the total feed, with a maximum not exceeding 20%.
2. Cake and meal feed: Cake and meal feed mainly includes rapeseed cake, peanut cake, cottonseed cake, soybean cake, sesame cake, etc. The proportion of cake feed used for pigs is 10% to 25% of the total feed. Soybean cake and peanut cake are nutritious and can be included at 25%. Rapeseed cake and cottonseed cake should be below 10%. Rapeseed cake and cottonseed cake used as feed must first be detoxified; other cakes only need to be steamed or cooked before mixing and feeding. Piglet feed should not include cake and meal types.
3. Distiller's grains and residue feed: Distiller's grains and residue feed includes distiller's grains, bran distiller's grains, vinegar residue, starch residue, bean residue, bagasse, etc. The amount used for pigs is 5% to 10% of the total feed. Pregnant sows and pigs in the late fattening stage should not be fed distiller's grains. All kinds of distiller's grains and residues must be cooked before feeding.
4. Grain feed: Grain feed includes corn, barley, wheat, sorghum, broad beans, peas, etc. The amount used for pigs is 50% of the total feed, with a maximum not exceeding 60%.
5. Animal feed: Animal feed includes silkworm pupae, fish meal, bone meal, blood meal, feather meal, etc. The amount used for pigs is 4% to 8% of the total feed. Piglets should not be fed blood meal. In fattening pig feed, fish meal can be included at 10%; if silkworm pupae are included, fish meal can only be included at 5% to 6%. When using this type of feed, pay attention to matching the calcium and phosphorus ratio well.
6. Mineral feed: Mineral feed includes shell powder, eggshell powder, calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate, and salt, etc. The amount used for pigs is 1% to 2% of the total feed, and the amount of salt used should not exceed 0.5%. If adding trace elements, they must be used strictly according to regulations.
7. Green feed: Green feed includes aquatic duckweed, water lettuce, water hyacinth, alternanthera philoxeroides, and leaves and vines of crops, as well as alfalfa, vetch, etc. This type of feed is green, juicy, nutritious, and easy to digest, generally accounting for 40% of the total feed.
