How much profit is there in raising 1000 Lion-head geese? Gosling rearing techniques for Lion-head geese
Anyone who does not know the name Lion-head goose will, upon hearing it, think that this breed of goose must be one of the most ferocious geese. The Lion-head goose is the largest improved breed of goose developed in rural China, and it is also one of the large goose breeds in the world. Many people do not know how Lion-head geese are raised, how much profit there is in raising Lion-head geese, and how much the investment cost is. Let me show you!
How much profit is there in raising 1000 Lion-head geese
A young goose costs a little over ten yuan, and once grown, a large goose can sell for more than 70-100 yuan at market price. After deducting labor costs and so on, the profit per goose is about 50%.
1. Under grazing plus supplementary feeding conditions, the cost per goose: gosling: 8 yuan each; 0-15 days, starter feed one jin × 1.6 yuan = 1.6 yuan; 15-30 days: concentrated feed 2.5 jin × 0.9 yuan = 2.25 yuan; 30-70 days: grazing + concentrated feed 8 jin × 0.8 yuan = 6.4 yuan; 70 days to slaughter: finishing feed 5 jin × 0.9 yuan = 4.5 yuan; immunization + medicine: 1 yuan; total cost: 8+1.6+2.25+6.4+4.5+1 = 23.75 yuan. Calculated at an average body weight of 7 jin and 7.5 yuan per jin, that is 52.5 yuan in total; after deducting the cost of 23.75 yuan, the profit per goose is more than 28 yuan.
2. Under pen-fed conditions, the cost per goose: gosling: 8 yuan each; 0-15 days, starter feed one jin × 1.6 yuan = 1.6 yuan; 15-45 days: concentrated feed 9 jin × 0.9 yuan = 8.1 yuan; 45-75 days: roughage 15 jin × 0.8 yuan = 12 yuan; immunization + medicine: 1 yuan; total cost: 8+1.6+8.1+12+1 = 30.7 yuan. Calculated at an average body weight of 7 jin and 7.5 yuan per jin, that is 52.5 yuan in total; after deducting the cost of 30.7 yuan, the profit per goose is more than 21 yuan.
Gosling rearing techniques for Lion-head geese
1. Gosling selection: healthy goslings that have hatched absorb the yolk and umbilical cord well, can stand steadily after their down dries, are lively, have large bright eyes, react sensitively, have a strong call, have glossy down, and quickly tuck in their feet when held by the neck and lifted upward.
2. Gosling first drink: it is best to start feeding goslings 24—36 hours after hatching; drinking water before the first feed is called the “first drink.”
3. Gosling first feed: feed can be given right after the first drink, and the first feeding is called the “first feed.” Generally, millet is steamed until eight-tenths cooked and mixed with an appropriate amount of finely shredded green vegetable leaves or tender grass leaves, then scattered on plastic sheeting to entice the goslings to peck at it. Train them the same way for 2-3 days, and after several times the geese will eat on their own. For the first 3 days, cooked rice is the main food, after which compound feed is gradually mixed in, and after 1 week they are fed compound feed entirely. Within 1-3 days, feed 4-5 times during the day and 2 times at night, each time until they are seven or eight-tenths full. For goslings 5-10 days old, digestion improves, so the number of feedings can be gradually increased, feeding 6 times during the day and 2 times at night.
4. Daily ration formula: cooked rice and mixed feed 20-30%, green feed 70-80%. In addition, the daily ration should include minerals such as bone meal 2-3%, shell powder 0.5%, and salt 0.3%. For goslings 11-20 days old, green feed is the main food, with a ratio of concentrated feed to green feed of 1:4-8. At this time the goslings can already be put out to graze on grass, and the number of feedings can be reduced to 4-5 times during the day and 1 time at night. For goslings 21-30 days old, their constitution strengthens and digestion improves, the ratio of concentrated feed to green feed is 1:9-12, feeding 2-3 times during the day and 1 time at night, and the grazing time can be gradually extended.
Risks of raising Lion-head geese
As the saying goes, ducks want rank-smelling food and geese want green feed. Raising geese requires a fairly large proportion of green feed, and a flock of geese is not very suitable for large-scale pen rearing; it is best to have a dedicated forage planting base and natural grazing land. To make big money you have to raise many, but building a goose raising site costs some money. For early-stage raising you can use greenhouse rearing, and it is best to plant grass. But if you plant grass to raise geese, you need to pay a certain land cost. If your area has many abandoned fields and barren hills, it is very suitable, and in that case the profit from raising geese will also be relatively high.
What to pay attention to when raising Lion-head geese together with fish
Integrated fish and goose farming is adopted to obtain the circular benefit of using goose manure to fertilize the water and feed the fish. But in the actual three-dimensional farming process, especially when carrying out mixed culture in the same water surface, special attention should be paid to solving the following two problems.
1. Choose living water, fish ponds, because once geese stay in the water too long, the pond water will be turbid for a long time, which can easily cause adult fish in the pond to become sick and even die. Of course, if the fish pond is not living water but is relatively large in area, and the geese entering the pond will not cause the water to be turbid for a long time, then fish and goose mixed culture can also be carried out to achieve the goal of fertilizing the water to raise fish.
2. Reasonable feeding. When feeding bait to the fish, geese should be forbidden from entering the water. This can both prevent the geese from eating the fish bait and avoid the geese playing in the pond for a long time and disturbing the fish's normal feeding. Especially in summer, bait easily spoils, and if it cannot be eaten immediately after feeding, fish diseases easily occur. In addition, when feeding bait, you should not only adhere to the principle of feeding the fish in fixed amounts, with fixed quality, and at appropriate times, but also continuously adjust the amount of bait according to changes in water temperature and the growth and feeding conditions of the fish, so as to promote a double harvest of fish and geese.
