In the ducks we farmers raise, if the legs and feet are weak and they cannot stand up, it is mostly caused by calcium deficiency. You can let them get more sunlight and give them some calcium-rich food, and the condition will improve. Every day you must feed the ducks some whole grains; this is indispensable. Ducks like to live in water, obtain some aquatic plants, and catch some small fish and shrimp, which helps the ducks grow quickly.

How to Treat Duck Soft Leg Disease

1. The most common is amoxicillin. Pour out a little powder from an amoxicillin capsule, not too much, then mix it with water for the duck to drink, twice a day. One capsule can last about 3 or 4 days. Then, do you have any Leli calcium at home? It is also a calcium tablet in capsule form, taken the same way as amoxicillin. Just feed these two separately. For example, give amoxicillin in the morning and evening, and give the calcium tablet at noon. (One calcium tablet a day is enough.)

2. For duck soft leg disease caused by improper management, usually pay attention to keeping the duck house dry, ventilated, frequently change the bedding, let the ducks exercise more, and avoid crowding, because ducks have a habit of huddling together. For soft leg disease in ducklings caused by this reason, the mortality rate is generally 30%-50%, while the mortality rate of growing ducks and adult ducks is only 10%-15%.

3. For duck soft leg disease caused by feed reasons, compound feed should be used instead. It is not suitable to feed self-mixed feed with incomplete nutrition or a single grain such as rice. At the same time, regularly supplement calcium-containing mineral additives in layer duck feed. In cold winter or early spring when housed, even more sufficient green feed as well as vitamin D or cod liver oil should be provided. The mortality rate caused by the above reasons is within 3%-5%, but the egg production of layer ducks drops significantly.

How to Prevent Duck Soft Leg Disease

1. In the early stage of illness, intramuscular injection of vitamin D colloidal calcium can be used for treatment. For each layer duck, the dosage specification each time is 500 units of vitamin D and 0.5 ml of colloidal calcium. For adult ducks, inject 1 ml-2 ml per duck each time, once a day, and continuous injection for 2-3 times is enough. At the same time, feed sugar calcium tablets containing 0.5 g of calcium phosphate and 15 mg of vitamin B (about 2-3 tablets). For adult ducks, take once a day, and recovery can be achieved after 3-5 consecutive doses.

2. In the middle and late stages of the disease, ducks generally also develop secondary colds, bronchitis, etc. due to this disease, so management and prevention should be strengthened in time.

What Are the Symptoms of Duck Paralysis

1. Pathologically speaking, duck paralysis is mainly caused by duck viral arthritis, infectious diseases, or nutritional diseases such as calcium deficiency. There are also many specific causes of these diseases, including feed-related ones and management-related ones.

2. First, it is caused by infectious diseases. Duck infectious serositis is a disease with a relatively high incidence rate. It causes poor spirits, inability to turn over and get up, and white watery droppings. There is also duck cold with a relatively high mortality rate. In addition to respiratory symptoms and diarrhea or neurological symptoms in ducklings caused by highly pathogenic strains, there are sometimes leg paralysis symptoms and lying on the ground unable to get up. The common duck plague can also cause duck leg paralysis and difficulty moving, especially in the late stage of the disease, often lying on the ground unable to get up, or moving by flapping both wings on the ground.

3. Duck colibacillosis mainly causes ducklings to prefer lying down due to weakness and be unwilling to move. Adult ducks often show abdominal enlargement, ascites, peritonitis, or serositis (pericardium, perihepatic area, air sacs). In addition, other infectious diseases such as the common duck Newcastle disease, Muscovy duck parvovirus disease, and duck cholera can also cause duck paralysis.

What Causes Soft Feet in Ducks

1. Due to a damp duck-raising site, poor ventilation in the duck house, and failure to replace duck house bedding in time in cold weather; for housed layer ducks, less sunlight exposure, crowding, excessive duck flock density, and improper feed mixing proportions. Soft leg disease in layer ducks or meat ducks caused by these reasons accounts for 70%, and occurs in fairly large-scale specialized duck-raising households.

2. Soft leg disease in ducks caused by incomplete daily ration nutrition, lack of minerals, especially improper proportions of essential trace elements such as calcium and phosphorus, and lack of vitamin D, etc., accounts for 30%. These often occur in scattered raisers or non-scale or small-scale raisers.

The editor believes that in our breeding process, we should pay attention to improving the ducks' living and resting conditions. Only by giving the ducks a comfortable environment can they grow faster and bring us returns. You should know that our efforts and our harvest are positively correlated. Your efforts will determine your harvest.
