Frog Farming Techniques and Site Construction Methods, How Much Does It Cost Per Mu?
Frogs have now become a very popular delicacy on people's dining tables. Frog meat is very tender, and there are many ways to prepare frogs, and the methods are also very simple. In addition, the nutritional value of frog meat is very rich, so more and more people are joining the ranks of farming frogs artificially. Today, let's talk about some frog farming techniques with everyone.
Frog Farming Techniques and Site Construction Methods
1. Frog farming ponds are divided into spawning ponds, tadpole ponds and adult frog ponds. Generally, it is best to choose a place that is both damp and warm and sheltered from the sun, with a long cement pond or earthen pond being suitable.
2. For a large outdoor pond, 4×6 m is one single pond; the pond walls are best plastered with cement, while the bottom of the pond should still be left as soil; for a small courtyard pond, generally 1×1.5 m to 2 m is suitable, with a pond depth of generally 1 m, equipped with water inlet holes and drainage channels, and a water depth of 20-50 cm. Shade boards must be set up over the pond surface. Generally, 40 adult frogs can be raised per square meter.
3. Frog farming ponds can use earthen ponds, brick ponds or rice fields, and the key lies in preventing escape. If conditions permit, brick walls can be built, or netting can be used for enclosure, generally 1-1.2 m high. The water depth in the pond is 30-60 cm. A mound of soil should be piled in the center of the water or on the sunny side to serve as land habitat for the frogs, and it should account for about 1/3 of the entire pond. A small amount of floating aquatic plants should be put into the pond water. For ponds used to raise tadpoles, only a small area of land should be left for the juvenile frogs to come ashore after metamorphosis. Cement ponds are better for tadpole ponds, and the pond wall slope should be gentle to provide habitat for tadpoles.
4. Management during the metamorphosis period: About 70 days after the frog eggs hatch, they become juvenile frogs. In the stage from the appearance of the front limbs in tadpoles to complete metamorphosis, they mainly rely on absorbing the tail for supply, breathe air with their lungs, and begin to leap out of the water to come ashore and rest. When more than 90% of the tadpoles have become juvenile frogs, they can be moved into juvenile frog ponds for raising.
How Much Does Frog Farming Cost Per Mu
The cost invested in frog farming is not very high either. Calculated over three years, the current cost invested in farming frogs per mu of land is about 10,000 to 15,000 yuan. If some later-stage feed is added, and some labor costs are also added, then calculated this way, the investment per mu is roughly between 20,000 and 30,000 yuan, but the profits from farming frogs are very high.
What to Pay Attention to When Raising Frogs
1. Before making up your mind to farm frogs, you should fully master comprehensive farming techniques for frogs, flies, earthworms, yellow mealworms, EM biological agents and so on. Technology is the core strength of production and the foundation of success. If you have not mastered comprehensive frog farming techniques, do not act blindly, as this will cost more than it gains. It is required to build the site in a place with sufficient water sources and no pollution, a quiet environment, and slightly higher terrain that will not be flooded.
2. Frogs live on insects and mainly prey on live insects. In the case of artificially farming frogs, you should also start developing the artificial farming of some live insects, but the most convenient and quickest means is still to raise fly maggots, earthworms, yellow mealworms, etc. However, before farming, you must do a good job in bait production work. There is a saying: before the troops move, provisions must go first.
3. After all the work is done, you should prepare the frog seeds. The breeding period of frogs is March to June each year, so before spawning, you should fully prepare the frog seeds to lay the foundation for high yield.
What Are the Common Diseases of Frogs
1. Red leg disease, which is caused by a virus. The abdominal and leg muscles of diseased frogs show pinpoint hemorrhages, the muscles appear red, the frog body is limp and weak, activity is sluggish, they refuse to eat, and they die after a few days. Prevention and treatment methods: First, scoop out the diseased frogs and soak them in 10%-15% salt water for 15 minutes, and they can be cured after 2 days; second, move the frogs into another pond, then spray the whole pond with a 1/10,000 copper sulfate solution.
2. Swollen leg disease, which is caused by bacterial infection after injury to the legs. The legs of diseased frogs become swollen and tumor-like, affecting feeding, causing malnutrition and death in the frogs. Prevention and treatment methods: soak the legs of diseased frogs in a 30 mg/L potassium permanganate solution for 15 minutes; at the same time, orally administer tetracycline, 2 times a day, half a tablet each time, and continue for 3 days for recovery.
In the article above, we briefly introduced some frog raising methods with everyone. In fact, compared with other animals, frog raising methods are relatively simple. In fact, the frog farming construction methods taught to everyone today can also be adjusted according to your own land.
