Emus are very large and run very fast, and they are very famous all over the world. Recently I have heard many people discussing emus, so what are the emu farming techniques? I do not know either; I have only seen them on television, and it is said that raising them is quite troublesome, so let me introduce the emu farming techniques to everyone.

Emu Farming Techniques

1. Emus have good athletic ability and like to dance in spacious places. Under artificial rearing conditions, they need enough space for movement, and the site must drain well with no water accumulation. Choose flat or slightly sloping level ground facing south or southeast, and the soil is preferably loam or sandy loam.

2. Meet the nutritional needs of emus at each stage; the crude protein content needs to reach 17%-20%, and the metabolizable energy needs to reach 2650-2700 kcal/kg. From 4 to 6 months of age is the frame-growing stage, and protein, calcium, phosphate and vitamin D should be supplemented.

3. Green fodder should be diverse, including ryegrass, napier grass and leguminous grasses. Chrysopogon aciculatus, cattle-bundle grass, water hyacinth, sweet potato seedlings, tender twigs, leaves and so on can also be fed. If a variety of green fodders can be mixed and fed, it helps enhance the disease resistance of emus.

Emu Daily Management Methods and Precautions

1. Management methods:

Young emus about eight months old need 600 grams of mainly corn grain feed per day, together with 900 grams of green fodder. Feed 3 times a day, at fixed times, in fixed amounts, at fixed locations. The green fodder should be chopped to a length of 1-2 cm. Each emu needs about 1 kg of clean drinking water per day. Emus must not drink water warmed by the sun, otherwise they are prone to illness. In summer, ensure clean and sufficient drinking water. From 8-10 months, body weight can reach adult weight. Do a good job of disease prevention and sterilization. Before chopping the green fodder, soak it in disinfectant for 10 minutes, then rinse it with water.

2. Precautions:

The pens should be well ventilated and easy to clean and disinfect; every 100 emus should have 100 sq m of pens and be provided with an exercise area of 250-300 sq m. Ensure sufficient clean and hygienic drinking water. The work of feeding concentrate, green fodder and drinking water and cleaning up every day should have fixed times and order. Outsiders are forbidden to enter the rearing area.

How Much Does an Emu Cost

1. The price of emus depends on your specifications and also on the local market price; at present, the price of finished products we know of is about 35-45 per jin. The emu is a type of ostrich, called the Australian ostrich. In the past, in China they were basically raised as ornamental animals, or simply sold as meat poultry, and the selling price of each adult emu was about 800 yuan.

2. Nowadays, some farmers in Qingyuan, Guangdong have extracted four treasures from emus: meat, oil, skin and eggs. Through deep processing, they are not only best-selling in China but also exported to Europe and America. Calculating it out, one emu sells for four to five times more than before. A farmer investing about 100,000 yuan can earn more than 300,000 yuan a year from raising Australian ostriches, achieving relatively high economic benefits, so the Australian ostrich has even better farming prospects. It is a specialty of the Australian region and is the second largest bird in the world.

After reading the above introduction, everyone should have learned how to raise emus. I think it is not difficult, but for such a precious animal, there should still be many things to pay attention to, so ordinary households should not think about raising them. I wonder whether my information has helped everyone?
