How to Raise Grass Carp? A Full Analysis of Practical Farming Techniques
SummaryChoose high-quality two-year-old grass carp fry that have been vaccinated by injection, as the survival rate is higher; to better save on farming costs, you can use sloping land to grow green fodder such as ryegrass and Sudan grass for the grass carp to feed on; during the farming process, regularly add fresh water to the pond to ensure good water quality, and appropriately turn on the aerator to oxygenate the pond water; do a good job in daily disease prevention and disinfection work.
1. Select high-quality fry
When introducing fry, it is best to choose two-year-old grass carp fry that have received immunization injections. Two-year-old grass carp fry have better physique, uniform size, strong resistance and are less prone to disease, making them easier to farm. The survival rate can reach over 90%, and yield is guaranteed to a certain extent.
2. Use site advantages to grow green fodder yourself
In addition to feeding concentrated feed, raising grass carp also requires feeding a certain amount of green fodder to meet the nutritional needs of grass carp growth. Green grass fodder can enlarge the frame of the grass carp, making it easier to fatten them later. To reduce farming costs to a greater extent, you can plant some ryegrass and Sudan grass on sloping land for the grass carp to feed on. Generally, the yield per mu can reach over ten thousand kilograms, which can effectively reduce the amount of pelleted feed fed during the farming process.
3. Regulate water quality
The quality of the water directly affects the growth and development of grass carp. During the farming process, new water should be added to the pond regularly, preferably 3 times a month, each time adding about 20-750px.
Use the aerator in a timely manner to improve the oxygen content in the water. Generally, turn on the aerator from 12-14 o'clock at noon on sunny days, turn on the aerator for 2 hours in the morning on cloudy days, and on rainy days the aerator needs to be kept on all day.
About every half month, apply some water quality improver to the pond to improve water quality and ensure an excellent growth environment for grass carp. From July to October, attention should be paid to ensuring the pond water environment can meet all the needs of grass carp growth.
4. Disease prevention
During the farming process, grass carp are prone to parasitic fish diseases such as anchor worms and Sinergasilus. Generally, starting from late March, trichlorfon at a concentration of 0.35ppm should be used to kill parasites in the pond, and about every 20 days, a mixture of copper sulfate and ferrous sulfate at 0.7ppm should be used to kill parasites. Alternating the two can better kill parasites in the pond so that they cannot infect the fish school.
When the temperature is relatively high, every 15 days, splash quicklime water into the pond at a ratio of 10kg/mu to adjust the pH of the water, keeping the pond water PH value weakly alkaline to prevent fish diseases.
You can regularly add Sanhuang powder or florfenicol powder to the concentrated feed, stir well, and then feed it, which is beneficial to fish school growth and can also prevent diseases.
