AbstractCrucian carp is very easy to raise. As long as you introduce healthy and high-quality fry, disinfect and fertilize the pond before stocking, stock at a reasonable density, monitor water quality and dissolved oxygen levels in time during the farming process, change the water, clean, and disinfect regularly, and adhere to the feeding principle of small amounts and multiple times to ensure that crucian carp obtain sufficient nutrition and meet their growth needs. They can also be polycultured with other fish to increase returns. Just do a good job of disease prevention and disinfection in daily management.

As long as daily attention is paid to regulating water quality when farming crucian carp, crucian carp is still very easy to raise. You can regularly splash 2.5% trichlorfon powder into the pond to make the water reach 1 ppm, change the water regularly in daily management, and maintain the oxygen content in the water.

I. Raising crucian carp at home

During the raising process, condition the water and change the water regularly to ensure the water contains sufficient oxygen. Since tap water contains bleaching powder, it is best to let it stand for 2 days before use.

Crucian carp is an omnivorous fish. Usually you can feed them some rice or grains.

You can put the crucian carp in a basin and add Canjieqing to the water for cleaning. The areas in the water covered by Canjieqing will be isolated from the air, and the crucian carp in the water will expose their bodies above the surface to breathe because of lack of oxygen. If you want a better cleaning effect, you can change the water in the basin several times, then add Canjieqing, but the amount of Canjieqing must be appropriate. If too much is added, the crucian carp will be unable to breathe in the water and may even die.

II. Farming on a farm

1. Preparatory work

Choose a sunny, wind-sheltered location with convenient irrigation and drainage to build the pond. Before stocking fry, drain the water in the pond, expose it to the sun for a few days, then splash a certain proportion of quicklime into the pond for disinfection, and then fill the pond with some water.

2. Stocking fry

It is best to choose high-back crucian carp fry with a relatively fast growth rate. To ensure the survival rate of the fry, first disinfect the fry with a certain proportion of salt water before stocking. When stocking, the water temperature is best controlled above 10°C, and the stocking density is best controlled at about 2000 fish/mu. Reasonable stocking density facilitates daily farming management and also allows centralized sales. During farming, they can be mixed with other fish to increase output.

3. Water quality management

The calcium and scales contained in crucian carp are 2-3 times higher than those of other fish. During the farming process, to meet the growth needs of crucian carp, ensure the calcium and scale content in the water. Generally, apply calcium phosphate and lime solution into the pond about once every 15 days. If the water is too lean, apply organic fertilizer into the pond for fertilization, and you can also plant some duckweed or chlorella in the pond. When the temperature is relatively high, pay close attention to changes in water quality. As long as the water quality is poor, immediately replace the pond water to regulate water quality.

4. Feed feeding

Crucian carp is an omnivorous fish. They mainly feed on plants. When feeding, choose feed that crucian carp likes, and adhere to the feeding method of multiple times and small amounts. Each day can be divided into 6-8 times for small amounts of feeding. When the temperature is relatively low in spring, crucian carp will reduce food intake, and the number of feedings can also be reduced accordingly. When the temperature is relatively high in summer, the growth rate of crucian carp reaches a relatively fast rate, and their food intake will increase. Therefore, the number of feedings and the amount should be appropriately increased.

5. Disease prevention

During the farming process, pay attention to disease prevention. They are prone to red gill disease, saprolegniasis, hepatobiliary syndrome, and other diseases. If crucian carp are not treated in time after becoming ill, they will infect the fish school and cause a large number of fish to become infected and even die. Therefore, regularly splash quicklime into the pond for disinfection to reduce the chance of disease.
